Very expensive for what it offers
You are reading this review because you are already a fan of Japanese warships. That being the case you have already seen most of the pictures in this book. The big difference being the quality of the paper, binding and size of the photos really does bring them more to life than in other books. Here are some facts about the book:261 pages. The first 51 pages deal with the very early armoured cruisers. The next section, pages 54 to 141 deals with heavy cruisers, on average each ship gets about 4 pictures they are nearly always of the ship before the war or before it's major refit.Outstanding pictures of Suzuya on trails, Nachi in 1942 and sunken Tone.Pages 144 to 187 deal with light cruisers, some nice pictures of Agano class but only a single picture of Oyodo.Pages 189 to 221 Support craft. This is not what I brought an expensive book about Japanese cruisers for. However there are some pictures I've never seen before of fleet oilers, the repair ship Akashi and the odd transport ship.Pages 224 to252 Ship statistics and it's as dry as it sounds.Save your money and put it towards the superb Japanese Cruisers of the Pacific War by Eric Lacroix and Linton Wells instead.
