I didn't want to leave a review for this item until I completed my follow-up DEXA Bone Scan. Well, the results are in and I have had noticeable improvement in my bone density. The quality of this supplement and the ingredients feel superior to other brands that I have used previously. I divide my daily dosage into an AM and PM dose for maximum absorption. The caplets are easy to snap in two, and most importantly, these are very easy to swallow.

UPDATE Best calcium supplement on market. My calcium level are finally where my doctor wants. I have no trouble taking these 4x per day. Unlike others there is no aftertaste (common in other similar plant-based capsules), very easy to swallow and effective (confirmed by blood tests). This is the reason why I changed rating from 4 to 5. I developed severe osteoporosis resulting in multiple fractures of my shoulder, ankle and concurrent wrist and femur (I was returning home from the hospital after knee replacement surgery and fell getting out of the car despite using a walker). I ignored a diagnosis of osteopenia 20 years ago PLEASE pay attention and avoid my path! My review is based on personal experience and advice from endocrinologists at Yale Medical Center and Mayo Clinic, an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC and a rheumatologist at John Hopkins. I recommend this product after using this product for 6 months at 4 pills/day =1200 mg total calcium (NOT the recommended dose on bottle). My calcium levels are only slightly below the recommended range. But much better than the consistently very low levels of calcium found (after 6 years) trying other brands containing calcium carbonate. Supplements contain different sources of calcium. The calcium in this product is from plant, specifically a red algae. This form is readily absorbed with or without food. You can also find synthetic calcium as a salt such as calcium citrate, maleate or carbonate. The carbonate is found in lower priced brands since it is more cheaply manufactured - and very difficult to absorb - than say calcium citrate which is more expensive. Bottom line, to be effective, any calcium supplements must include: *Absorbable calcium (plant based or synthetic) *vitamins D and K and * be absorbed in the gut at no more than 400 mg per dose. This is important - You must have absorbable calcium (from plant or algae or as a different calcium salt than the carbonate salt which lower priced brands usee and at a dose of no more than 400 mg/3x per day. In addition to being impossible to swallow, the 1200 dose just isn't absorbed by the gut - just wasting $- believe me from personal experience and from specialist advice (whose research have proven this). In addition too much calcium is harmful in addition to being constipating. Also remember that this disease requires a multi prong approach drug +diet +excersize +Supplemental calcium. This time when my calcium was delivered by Amazon, they were in a fancy marketing box inside of the Amazon box that was cushioned with lots of paper. This pretty box is quite expensive to make and ship — totally unnecessary, I would prefer if New Chapter does not ship the vitamins in this kind of box, it’s a waste. Plus now I have to pull the box apart to recycle the cardboard. If they’re worried about the safety of the vitamin bottle not breaking, they should use a little bubble wrap. Depending on how many of these boxes New Chapter had made, these can run 4 to 5 to 8 dollars per box. I’d rather they take that amount off the sale of each bottle of vitamins and so they would be more reasonably priced. The vitamins themselves are very good, love that they are slim tabs.

I’ve been using this calcium supplement for a few months now, and I’m really impressed. The tablets are easy to take (3), gentle on my stomach, and I’ve noticed a real difference in my nails. I also love that it includes added nutrients to help with absorption, so I know I’m actually getting the benefits.

This calcium comes in an easy to swallow size. The glass bottle was properly cushioned, which I appreciated. I have received it broken from another shipper. Plant-based calcium is expensive. This one is the most reasonably priced.

Amazon has done a poor job of packaging this autoship. The glass bottle in not wrapped to protect contents. Packers use a box with 1 inflated ‘air bag’ tossed in. This expensive, but effective calcium supplement thus arrive with broken tablets and crushed fragments that are unusable. Do better Amazon!!
