Vastly better than most cheap tap-holders
This is nicely engineered and works well. It is a vast improvement over the awful, cheap holders that are included with most budget tap sets. In comparison to the 'normal' cheap ones, it is a pleasure to use and excellent value for money.

OK at a push.
This tap wrench is suitable for light weight DIY/emergency small gauge thread cutting. It's not really an industrial tool as I don't consider it's quality or durability is up to repetitive or constant use. It's OK for cutting threads in aluminium and probably light/ thin sections of mild steel. It's difficult to get a very firm grip on the locking thread and consequently taps tend to work loose or rotate in the clamping jaws and drop out and/or get stuck in the material. I used it to recut 10 threads in sheet aluminium with little trouble, but I think this is probably the limit of its usefulness due to the problems noted above.Solidly manufactured for occasional use.

Good quality
I bought this to replace a rather poor one that came in a set. This is much much better quality.

Better than expected Tap wrench
The description said die cast body but in fact it is made from steel throughout.Threaded handle is slightly sloppy but tightens fine.Time will tell how durable it is but it is leagues better than the normal cheap zinc alloy bodied type often supplied in kits.

You get what you pay for, alright for occasional use
Feels sturdy, there were a few sharp edges (including a bit of swarf from the tapped hole for the handle) that needed cleaning up before it could be used safely. The straightness is accptable for larger taps but it doesnt hold the tap square enough for smaller m1-m3 taps for easy operation. Very small taps (m2.5 and below) are difficult to clamp hard enough to stop them working loose. In short I would only reccomend this for very occasional use, if you need a tap wrench with any frequency then get something better.

Really decent for the price
I work as a machinist so these see quite a bit of regular use for tapping parts and was surprised how well made they were when I got them for the price! The whole thing is made from machined steel not cast so it's very strong and the machining quality is quite decent for the price, it holds onto taps really well! Finally, a tap handle that isnt cr@p.
Compared to the other tap handles, which are made of some cheap pot metal, this one is actually rather well machined from steel. It gives a good clamping force and stays clamped. So far, so good. It will probably last.
