ABUS 92/80 KD All Weather Solid Brass with Steel Jacket Monoblock Keyed Different Padlock

Very tough, heavy, well-made locks but a little dry lube makes them easier to open.

This lock is physically larger than the ABUS 92-65 (80mm vs 65mm) and works better on Conex shipping containers. This lock is almost flush with the bottom of the lock shroud when installed, which is perfect. It lists slightly to one side, which is accepatble. The smaller 65mm lock was further up inside the shroud when installed and listed more to the side. This lock also has a larger diameter shackle, which fills the hole in the container lock tab better than the 65mm lock. The finger pull on the shackle shaft is easy to grab and pull out once unlocked. It has a detent that keeps it in the locked position so you can lock it with the key without holding it in place. Our Conex is one a one-trip high cube 40-foot, and I can verify it works very well for that application.

Great lock. Solid and the lock bolt spins so would be difficult to cut with a grinder. Great addition to chain and other security measures.

I purchased these locks for a cargo container and they were shown being used for what I needed and they are to big for my container. Also the made in China was covered over with a black marker. UPDATE: from what I understand ABUS is a German company but not necessarily produced there but it's still curious why MADE IN CHINA was blacked out. The locks are huge and seem extremely well made so I wanted to be fair in my review. Although I saw the exact locks being used on a shipping container, a customer had taken a photo of it in use and shared it on their review, it was not the sellers photo. But when I went to use it in the same application it would not fit. I had to buy a lock similar to this one but one step down in size from this one. I will return these locks unless I can find another use for them. But understand if you do need one this size it appears to be a great lock. So I'm changing my one star to a 4 star.

This is a great lock and serves its purpose very well. Locking mechanism is smooth (you can use triflow to lube it too). Pay attention to the model. The shackle thickness differs and you’ll want to confirm it fits your use case. The Abus site will have that.

I bought this lock as part of my bike chain/lock combo. I am currently using the Guard Security 968 Heavy Duty Hardened Steel Square Link Bike Chain. Alone, this lock weighs about 2 pounds, but with my chain, the combo weighs 6 pounds. I was extremely lucky to find this lock "used" on Amazon, at a fraction of the retail price. I was debating between this lock, and the SOBO SPPO60-KD. The SOBO is extremely difficult to pick, but it lacks the menacing factor. After many days of debating, I went with the Abus. It just looks terrifying, something that would definitely scare off any amateur bike thieves. This lock can certainly take a beating, and probably dish one out when attached to the end of your chain. The key works flawlessly and the locking mechanism is extremely simple. After securing my chain, the two links take up about half of the inner chamber.

Very stout and heavy lock. Would be very hard to cut through. The only consideration is the size. It barely fit to lock the gate of a moving truck, and it is too big for the latch on my storage unit. Make sure the latch or chain you need to secure can handle a lock of this size. It is probably double the thickness of a standard, hardware store padlock. That said, if it fits. you can probably rest assured that your stuff will be safe unless a thief is willing to undertake extraordinary measures to break this.

A couple weeks ago some junkie losers broke in to the garage next door. They also tried to steal my bike in the back yard. Both the ABUS 12mm chain and this lock were impervious to the bolt cutter attack. They ripped up the covering on the chain and made a small scratch in this lock. They did more damage to the bike where they tried to get leverage. Nothing short of an angle grinder will get through this lock.

Top quality lock, shipping took a bit longer than usual but that more to do with what's going on at the end of 2021 than anything else

This padlock is massive and intimidating. It looks absolutely indestructible and probably is. Every time I lock my bike with it i have a grin on my face thinking about how futile a thief attempts at it would look.
