JanSport Right Pack Digital Edition Laptop Backpack

This is my favorite backpack to date.What I Like:* Sturdy, wide (but comfortable) straps which adjust* Two padded pockets in the back of the main inner compartment. This is great because the smaller one is perfect for my iPad and the larger one is great for stowing my laptop. (For reference, I own a Toshiba laptop so it's not particularly slim and still fits.) There's also a velcro strap that goes over the electronics pocket to provide a little more security.* Durable fabric. I usually buy Jansport backpacks because they've proven to be made durably, and this purchase is no exception.* Multiple zippered pouches in the front* Seems fairly weather resistant. I walked through NYC for an hour and a half in the rain and nothing got wet inside even though the outer fabric was pretty wet. I'm not sure if the backpack is waterproof, but it held up nicely in the event of an unexpected rainstorm.I chose the Red Plaid pattern and get compliments on it quite a bit, too, when traveling. I definitely recommend this purchase if you're looking for a quality backpack with a place to stow electronics and some room to spare.

Jansport is a brand I trust but man had the material changed. The backpack material doesn't seem as sturdy as it did when I was younger. The inside is nicely padded and looked great! I can fit a big 15 inch laptop with no problem in the sleeve. Careful with the Blue color backpack. The color is a chameleon blue purple that looks more purple.

I returned this because the laptop padding took up too much room. I was looking for a large backpack to use as a general tote and travel bag, not for school or specifically to carry technology, although I was planning to carry my laptop in it as needed. The laptop pocket was way too stiff and bulky and took too much room away from the interior of the bag, and since I am planning to use it for travel, I put a higher premium on open space instead of laptop protection. I might have kept it if not for that. The exterior was a very neat fabric that I wish came in other styles, like the Big Student style. I didn't like the Seattle map print interior, which clashed with the exterior, but that wasn't a deal breaker.

This is a very nice looking backpack that's practical and lightweight. It has two "tech" compartments, one for your laptop and another for a tablet. I find this feature very convenient. Note that the laptop compartment is small and will only fit a 13.3 inch laptop. Anything above that size might not fit, so check before buying. I love the brown color and it blends in with whatever I wear (mostly khaki pants and polo shirts). All JanSport backpacks have served me well over the years and I hope this one will also. Time will tell.

The material is not good quality, back in 1998 and 2000's JanSport made a great pack. I was expecting the same feeling, the "nostalgic" feeling, the "it" feeling. This pack does not provide "it." in fact it made me sad. In essence this pack is a folly of the corporate world. In 2012 VF Outdoor (the parent company of JanSport) closed the main US manufacturing / distribution plant for JanSport, causing production to move overseas. The parent company also owns Timberland, Dickies, Lee, The North Face, and some other "who's who" of clothing. As most of us can attest, these brands have also lost the pre-eminence that, to some, brought mawkishness. We should also remember that things made overseas are not all crap; brands like DJI have made this evident. I recede, I highly recommend brands like Dakine, they have managed to move manufacturing to China. This has allowed them to sell packs for 50-70 dollars, but also keep their outstanding quality. Quality that should last for generations, allowing older brothers to hand down there old pack in a ceremonial, symbolic old school way.

Actually retired the Herschel backpack I got for my son after only a month of use and traded it for this one. The other backpack was stylish but too small. This Jansport backpack has plenty of room and plenty of pockets (without having too many useless pockets). Fits plenty of notebooks and a binder - perfect for a middle or high schooler or college student. Has the sturdy feel you expect from Jansport without being stiff or uncomfortable to carry. My son loves it!

This is my daughter's school backpack... she's not known for being gentle with her things. We've only had it for a few weeks but it is holding up well with no visible wear or frays, the zippers work, and she loves the design. Looking good so far!

I should have paid closer attention to the warnings from other reviewers regarding the "suede" bottom on this backpack. Our daughter loved the color, and I really liked the design, with its dedicated pocket for a laptop. However, this joy lasted about five weeks into her first semester in college! Quite disappointed with paying for a brand name to have it last just a few weeks, so this the last time we will buy a Jansport product... I think I still have my old Jansport from college in the attic, but those days are gone by. I might try to do the same as others, and patch the bottom with a real leather patch.

Second purchase of this backpack, Best Ever! Durable, great quality too. ❤️
