Wire breaks through tip
The pens work great until they don't. Since purchasing these I have used four pens (from a 12-pc set), but have not been able to use them until the ink is completely gone. What happened with each of the four pens: the ink gets down to about 1/3 full, and a tiny wire pokes out of the tip. At first I thought I had gotten a metal shaving, or something, stuck in the tip but this has happened with every pen so far. This wire that pokes out scratches paper, and the ink clumps and pools. Two-thirds of each pen has worked great and I love the ultra fine tip, but these just don't last. I am still going to use the rest of the pack - waste not, want not - but if this is an ongoing problem I won't be ordering this brand in the future.

Narrow point, fast-drying, no bleed-through
Many people are familiar with the Pilot G2 line. These are ultra fine point (0.38mm). They rarely feel scratchy (a common issue if you go much narrower) and let you cram a little more writing into a small space. I am a physician and use them to write notes, to-dos, labs, vitals, and so forth on patient lists. I use the black pens all day, then switch to red for days-end notes to distinguish it from information recorded earlier in the day (e.g. AM vs PM vitals, AM vs PM I/Os, new imaging results, and so forth). I originally used a bog-standard ballpoint pen (like BIC Crystal) but found the lines much too wide given the restricted space in each patient line. These do the trick nicely. They write consistently and evenly, and the ink dries pretty much instantly. I've never encountered smearing or bleeding of the ink (unless it gets wet — see below). In short, the red G2 0.38mm is my go-to closer pen.Only cons:-Odd tendency to stop writing if they're dropped at all when ink level is at ~1/5 or lower mark. This has happened to me multiple times, and I've never been able to get the pen to recover. I just move on to the next one in the box.-The ink is a gel and does bleed if you get it wet. This happens to me not infrequently because I have to use hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting patient rooms. Any gel that falls onto the writing = smearing and bleeding.-Rare scratchiness.-There are cheaper pens out there, if you don't need the ultra-fine point. Those are pretty minor issues. Still highly recommended and will buy again once my current stock runs out.

Pilot 0.35 mm ultra fine point pens are perfect for marking up engineering documentation...
These work very, very nicely for fine line and text markups, and writing. I buy my own stock for work, in all four colors. As much as I like fountain pens or removable cap ultra fine point pens, these retractable points are much handier and safer in a handbag. Just do NOT store them upright with the point out in a pen cup...they likely will leak a bit. A good buy for the cost as they last a long while. Can be refilled with Pilot refills if you prefer that route.

I love G2
I am a student in university. I'm a huge fan of all the G2 pens. The ink doesn't bleed on the page like other pens. I really like these ultra fine tip pens because I can write really small while taking notes in my classes. I think it's more efficient and I can get more notes when I write small. The letters blend together too easily when I use bigger points; 0.38 tips are perfect for me. I have tried out many other pens. Some people don't like these because they are a little scratchy when you write with them. If you push too hard while using them the page can be torn. If that is a problem for you I suggest getting a larger tip on the same brand. The 0.7 glide really smooth. Sometimes I use the 0.5 tips but rarely.I recommend this all G2 pens. You just have to find the size tip that is right for you. Please click "Yes" below if you found this review helpful!

Disappointing Purchase
I've been using the Pilot G-2 0.38 mm Pens for a few years now.I really like the quality and they write smoothly for an ultra fine ball point.I use mostly the black ink.I got a pack of the red ink pens and it seems that there is not much red pigment in the gel.If I open the pen and remove the ink cartridge, the gel is so translucent you can read text through it.When I write on white paper, the writing appears very weak as though the pen is about to run out of ink.But it's not, the red ink just appears very faint with poor contrast against the paper.Did I get a box of pens from a defective batch or are all the red G-2 pens like this?
