I have bought these before they are very good when model making

An excellent selection of sizes. Those used were straight sharp and performed well. The smallest bits are thinner than a hair so are very delicate and a heavy hand will cause them to snap. But for modelling work they are just what what was needed

Drill was very good sowhere the bits but very disapointed that the bits where not sized in stead of all jumbled up together .

The hand drill is OK- the bearing at the top is rather stiff and squeaky so doesn't make for a smooth twisting action, but works OK. Chuck will hold 0.3mm drills with ease - main reason I bought this. The problem I have is with the drill bits - all of the small diameter drill bits are flat at the tip so do not centre and skid all over the place. Useless. The 10 piece PCB drill bits cut well but are as brittle as uncooked spaghetti. The smaller 0.3,0.4, 0.5mm diameters snap at the tip and embed themselves in the piece and are tricky to dig out. Each one did 3 holes on average before snapping. Threw the rest away and bought German drill bits online that work fine.

I can not fault the delivery time for this product especially the time of year. Packaging was good but that is as far as it goes. I will start with the positives first. The pin vice has a nice chunky appearance and sits in the had well enabling a controlled use of all the bits. That's as far as it goes. The negative: The parts are poorly made with un-milled burr and a ridge where other parts have been crudely stamped out. This is noticeable on the vice teeth/jaws. The rotating handle squeaks non-stop even when lightly oiled. However, it still functions. The bits were something else! I tested the bits on a section of soft plastic. New bits should have cut through this with little or no resistance. It took ages to drill through 1.5 mil. 3 bits broke in the process. On checking the bit heads with a magnifying glass I found many were blunt or were not angled to cut. I do not think they were second hand, just badly made. One piece was just a straight piece of wire with no drilling ability. Basically it was a 30 mil piece of wire. I appreciate these were on the cheap side of the scale but still expect them to be fit for purpose. I gave this product a one star as I could not drop below that scale, more likely a minus 2 in reality. Do not waste your money.

This pin vise is a great tool for anyone in the scale modeling or model railroading hobby. It's perfect for all the fine detail work that the hobby demands. I use it constantly for drilling out gun barrels, creating holes for grab irons and railings on locomotives, and for running small wires for lighting. The assortment of tiny drill bits that comes with it is fantastic and covers pretty much every small size you could possibly need. The hand drill itself is comfortable to use. The top spins freely in your palm, which makes the drilling motion smooth and easy. Important word of caution: the small drill bits are extremely fragile. This is not a defect; it's just the nature of bits this tiny. You cannot apply a lot of pressure. You have to be patient, use a light touch, and let the sharpness of the bit do the work. If you try to force it, the bit will snap. There a more expensive pin vises that has a higher quality drills, but I’ve broken those multiple times as well. For the price of this set though I can just buy a new one. This kit is an incredible value. For the price, you get a great pin vise and a good collection of bits. Highly recommended.
