Reading a printed version of someone's electronic diary...
I suppose the most insightful aspect of this book is looking at it from a perspective of the start of the Iraqi war. Just as President Bush's legacy will undoubtedly be viewed upon the results of future Mid East politics then we can read accounts that were written by then current authors (or bloggers) such as Tonnies. Although the author states he is not elitist he comes across as being very much so. He is condescending to people and culture throughout the book. I mean, he should have expanded his horizons in music and movies a bit more. Not that I don't agree with some of what he says, or don't find his views on space travel or Mars quite interesting. Looking at this from a reviewers opinion I see the author as somewhat narrow-minded also. He makes assumptions about people without realizing there may be more depth to others than what he assumes. He probably would have been great to have a discussion with in person. There are not really any new revelations about the human condition, but it's an okay read and would be more appropriately served as an e-book since the format of the original writings was electronic anyway. But, this is all just my opinion....
