Its evenhandedness, reverence, pastoral concern and occasional humor make it a pleasure to read. One of my favorite things is its successful attempt to show that “no other piece of ancient Near Eastern literature that has survived the ravages of time compares favorably with the Book of Genesis. Its theological perspectives and historical profiles of early man are unique.”

Great price on a used book. Conservative creationist commentary. Very well done by a teal Hebrew scholar for people like me.

This was a very good book. Davis offers more than his own opinion and will contrast ideas to find the most logical conclusion. He is careful to check each hypothesis so see if it conflict with the Bible. This was a required textbook for one of my classes, but I thoroughly enjoyed this required reading.

This is a compelling look at the narrative of the book of Genesis beginning with Adam and Eve in the Garden and ending with Joseph post-prison days. The author has an engaging and scholarly way of approaching the text from a conservative Protestant viewpoint.

The book arrived on time and it was as described. I am using this book for a class. Thus far it has been interesting.

This is the only textbook I've ever been required to read that I actually enjoyed, and even laughed out loud! The author did a great job covering Genesis, and I learned a lot!

Great read for the history of the early prophets

The pace and content of this commentary is excellent. Also the seller was a joy to deal with, especially the personal hand written communication that came with the book.
