What it Says on the Tin.
Its black waxed Dacron bowstring material. I'm using actually using it for replacing the thread in old radio tuners but I was familiar with its bowstring use beforehand, which is is what gave me the idea.A reel this size won't make many 12 ... 16 strand bowstrings but its an excellent way to get started.
