Magical, Mythical & Fun
Magical & fun way to explore & travel. Love the characters & the setting. The mythical portions are as well done as any of NR's plots. She continues to rein supreme in my mind as THE storyteller. There is plenty of romance, action, culture, mystery, & chutzpah here. The traditional NR trilogy set-up exist where you know there are going to be 3 sets of couples, but they are not as formed as have been in previous series. That helps to push story line along without being obvious that things will work out & the happy ending is coming. Don't get me wrong, you know happy ending is coming. It is a trademark of NR series. But it isn't right there from the beginning. I also love the amount of research apparent in her books. I am the type of person who wants to go look for places & peoples after reading an interesting book. NR is one of the best at making it real. You can verify her facts on places, culture, ethnicity, etc. I know I can count on that with her & this book was no different. You also can visualize the scenarios as they occur in the book. So, to some it may seem old hat, rather than tried & true. I like that you can depend on her mechanics & methodology but still get a great read & learn something new & interesting. Love it & can't wait for the next in the series!

Engaging, suspenseful and filled with all the elements I have come to love and expect from Roberts trilogies.
We meet the six who are destined to find the stars and protect them from the evil that seeks them to destroy the world. Roberts brought us such an interesting cast of characters with Bran, Sasha, Annika, Riley, Sawyer and Doyle. Each brings something to the quest but they will need to learn to trust each other. I loved the paranormal aspects and had a delicious time piecing together who, what each character was. We learned about all of them, but spent the most time with Bran and Sasha. Riley is strong, gutsy, incredible smart and has a career I envy. She was my personal favorite of the bunch. Kickass and full of snark. Annika is all sunshine and you cannot help but smile when she is present. Sawyer is my dream man, and Doctor Who fans will soon understand why. Doyle is a warrior and a man of few words, but they held weight. While her formula is predictable, her stories are always richly detailed and well-paced. We know each book will feature a romance and that one part of the quest will be fulfilled. In Stars of Fortune Bran and Sasha unite. Their romance had a bit of a unique twist. Sasha knew of Bran before without having ever met him, so she came to the relationship with feelings. Despite how quickly their romance developed, it was powerful and felt genuine. I loved the heat and tenderness between them.It was fun seeing these strangers come together and watching them forge a friendship. I was tickled to discover how unique each of them was and enjoyed learning their histories and secrets. As they battled these secrets were revealed. Each used their strength and taught the others. While they searched and fought battles with evil and mythical beasts Roberts also made time for banter and friendship. I enjoyed time spent around the table enjoying a meal and each other’s companies.. We spend time with Evil, and Roberts’ is a master at describing and setting the tone in her stories. The villain is dark and formidable. I enjoyed the sense of foreboding and look forward to completing this quest.

Great Start to a Paranormal Romance Series
"We can't begin without you. We can't end it until we begin. Find me, Sasha. Come find me."FINAL DECISION: A great start to the series, this book focuses on the seer Sasha who has to learn to trust her own gifts, discover herself and build a team with six very different people -- one with whom she falls in love. A fascinating mystical storyline combined with the beginning of the quest makes this a great read.THE STORY: A story shrouded in myth tells the story of the three Stars of Fortune created by three goddesses and which are threatened to fall in the hands of a evil goddess who would like to destroy the world. Six people join together to discover the hiding places of the three Stars and destroy the evil threatening them. Sasha is an artist who has been dreaming of herself and five other people on a quest. Called by the magician in a dream, Sasha travels to Greece and triggers the beginning of the quest and the coming together of the six.OPINION: I loved this book. It is the beginning of a trilogy and much of the book is taken up with bringing the six protagonists together and setting out the parameters of the story, but this book has done a great job of doing that along with providing a compelling personal story for Sasha and a sexy romance with Bran.Sasha's story dominates this book. It is the story of a woman coming into her own power on multiple levels. As the story begins, she has been trying to suppress her gift of sight. Her own history has shown her that people cannot accept her gifts. Through this story, Sasha accepts her gifts, finds strength in herself to be a warrior and also opens herself up to the possibility of love.Bran is one of my favorite Robert's type characters -- a sexy male witch. Roberts always does such a great job of being respectful to the idea of witches. Bran fits right in Roberts' well done witch characters without being duplicative of prior characters. Sexy and respectful and immediately connected with Sasha, the two have to struggle somewhat to deal with trust issues.Trust and team building is the theme for the six characters that have joined together on the quest to recover the Stars of Fortune. While they have multiple confrontations with the evil one in this book, it is clear that much worse is coming for these three couples. Finally, the other four characters who have their books coming are compelling characters as well. While I was happy with the resolution of this story, this book definitely is the start of the trilogy and there is much still to be discovered about these characters and the overarching story.WORTH MENTIONING: This book is truly a paranormal romance. Roberts has flirted with magic and witchcraft in her books before but this book is a paranormal contemporary.CONNECTED BOOKS: STARS OF FORTUNE is the first book in the Guardians Trilogy.STAR RATING: I give this book 4.5 stars.

FANTASTIC BOOK
THIS BOOK IS A BRILLIANT STORY, PART OF A TRILOGY. I LOVED THEM ALL. YOU GET SUCKED IN TO THE BOOK. THE CHARACTORS ARE WELL THOUGHT OUT AND THEIR PARTS IN THE TRILOGY ARE BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN. I DIDNT WANT TO PUT THIS BOOK DOWN AS I WAS ENJOYING IT THAT MUCH AND I WAS SO ENGROSSED I WAS TURNING PAGE AFTER PAGE. I DO NOT WANT TO SAY TOO MUCH ABOUT THE STORY AS I DO NOT WANT TO SPOIL IT FOR YOU, BUT I WILL SAY THIS, YOU WILL ENJOY IT IF YOU LIKE STORIES ABOUT GOOD AND EVIL AND MYTHS AND LEGENDS.
