Metal detectors can be a bit flakey. This one has mixed reviews, BUT, it's a little tricky to calibrate, so I'm guessing those that gave it bad review or said it didn't work, didn't have it calibrated correctly. I chose this model because it's waterproof, so can be used to scan under water, making it great for beaches and lake shores. It's definitely one of the better amateur models and will suit your needs well, if you're looking to have fun detecting. It has a large readout screen and can be set to find specific metals, or metals as a whole. If you're a die hard detector hobbyist, you'll probably want to step up into a more expensive model.

My wife and I had a huge fight, which ended with me taking off my wedding ring and throwing it towards the woods behind our property. I eventually found the ring using this metal detector. It was buried an inch or so below the surface of the grass, pressed down into the dirt and not at all visible. It kept dinging as I passed the tool over the spot, so I just started digging with my fingers until it turned up. Terrific detector and great proce. I thought I was going to have to hire a pro, and possibly never get the ring back. Highly recommended, especially if you're married!

My product arrived before the estimated due date and arrived in perfect condition. It was easy to assemble and adjust, we barely referranced the directions and more so just to make sure we did it right. We went out and used it right away. Everything worked fine, but we havent taken the time to really use the fine-tuned settings. We found a bunch of junk today (nails, cans, a cheap ring) but had fun with our new hobby :-)

My 9 year old wanted a metal detector for christmas. I searched and looked at several brands. All the ones that seemed like they would be really good were priced retail around $400.00 and up which was more than i wanted to spend for his first one. i found this one listed on Amazon and it showed it was normally 400 and change but on sale for much less so I bought it thinking it should be really good. The detector itself is pretty good and picks items up about 8 to 9 inches down, however the head phones are cheap and dont fit well. The carry case is fine and the sand scoop is as well. The biggest complaint I have with this is that the directions are NOT very good. It is fine on how to assemble, but if you have no experience on using a detector ( we didn't ) it does a lousy job taking you through the process of showing you how to use the 3 mode features that give off different tones. If the directions had been well thought out and a lot more in depth then I would probably be saying this was an amazing item.

I was very interested in metal detecting, So i decided to start shopping. Not knowing if I would really enjoy the hobby or not, I opt'd for the trasure cove platinum for the price. I have had it for a day, and already finding money and neat stuff on the beach. I am Hooked...You are going to want to upgrade later, but for the price and extras that it comes with, it is hard not to get this one. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. Just keep in mind that if your not new to metal detecting you should probally look at the higher priced detectors, but for a beginner like myself.....ITS AWSOME!!!!

Can you believe this deal? It is great and have loved going outand finding stuff. Batteries last longer than I thought they wouldand have not replaced them yet. Have 3-4hrs. on them. Unitdiscriminates perfectly showing whats down there...shows abunch of different coin denominations, and sure enough thereare a bunch of different coins in that spot. Great fun and exercise.Be sure to use your SPF though as it is easy to lose track oftime out there in the sun. One of these days, POW! gold or diamondjewelry maybe.

I had a cheap metal detector that I bought to try and find a gold ring I lost, unfortunately all I found was junk. I still haven't found my ring yet, but I haven't had time to get out and do a thorough search. The Treasure Cove has very good discrimination, and I think I will find it when I can time to do a thorough search. The earphones were broke when I opened the box, I called the vendor to put in a claim, he was very helpful and sent me a new pair the next day. A1 service.

This packet is a perfect kit for a starter. It has everything you need. It is user friendly, very easy to understand. It is built very well. This is not a super sensitive detector. It seems to get confused, but it is great for someone starting out.
