Great router for those on a budget.
I got this TP-Link Archer VX1800v to replace a Draytek unit that had been in for around 10 years and was dropping the wifi network every few days.Out of the box it feels a lot cheaper than the Draytek unit, but then it was over £150 cheaper so that's to be expected. The unit itself is pretty simple to setup. Just set a password, select your broadband provider from the list, enter the username and passwrd for the circuit and set your wifi to either bridge 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, or run them as 2 seperate networks.I ran the firmware upgrade as out of the box it's a few upgrades shy of where it needs to be.I've also changed the WIFI network, LAN address and tweaked another couple of elements, but I configure these as part of my job so I know them very well.In terms of WIFI speed, it's very good, and has better coverage than the old router. Comparable speeds have increased for the furthest away devices from around 20Mb to 70Mb download, so pretty much full download and upload speeds. The 4 ethernet ports are handy to have, although I'm only using one for a printer. Good throughput so no issues there.Only thing I've found slow is configuration changes, which can take a couple of minutes to do the reboot, then another 90 seconds to pick up the DSL connection, so a reboot is really around 4 minutes compared to the Draytek which was 90 seconds.Overall, it's a great router on a budget. Supports all ADSL connections, including G-FAST, simple to use, really simple to setup and so far so good. No dropouts at all after 4 days. Happy to recommend

Budget-Friendly and Decent Router
After struggling with latency issues on the Plusnet Hub2, I decided to try this router, and I must say — it's a huge improvement. There has been a significant decrease in latency (especially on uploads), along with noticeable improvements in both download and upload speeds. The router itself looks fine — a simple plastic design without any quirky features.Wireless coverage is average; it’s not bad, but if your home has thick walls, you may need a range extender or mesh system.Setup is a breeze with the mobile app, unless it's your first time, in which case, I’d recommend checking out a quick YouTube guide.VPN support, parental controls, and QoS are fairly basic. If you need a router for serious gaming or heavy streaming, it might not be enough. The mobile app is minimal but clean, with a few handy features. You can also set up a TP-Link ID for remote control when you're away from the router.Overall, it’s a solid router for the price (I paid under £70).

TP-Link Archer VX1800v – Easy Setup, Solid Performance, Limited Parental Controls
I recently purchased the TP-Link Archer VX1800v, and my experience from unboxing to setup has been smooth and straightforward. The box arrived in perfect condition, and the device was indeed brand new and unused. Setup was as easy as advertised: I simply connected it to a power source, plugged the DSL cable from the device to my BT socket, powered it on, and logged in via my laptop. The initial setup wizard was intuitive. I entered my BT email address (no password required), and within minutes, the connection was live. I also explored some of the router's additional features, notably turning off the mesh function as I don’t have any other wireless routers in the house, and enabling band steering, which consolidated my Wi-Fi bands seamlessly. The parental control feature, however, is quite basic. It allows you to set limits on the hours children can spend online, specify the time of day they have access, and monitor their top five visited sites—these can then be blocked if necessary. While it covers the essentials, I would have appreciated a bit more flexibility and customisation in this feature.Overall, my experience with the TP-Link Archer VX1800v has been excellent. The firmware update process was quick and easy, with no hitches whatsoever. For anyone looking for a reliable and user-friendly router, this device ticks all the boxes for a smooth setup and effective performance.
