501 French Verbs, Eighth Edition (Barron's 501 Verbs)

Very comprehensive; so much detail it is a bit overwhelming. For the price you receive an incredible amount of highly intensive French language instruction. The book is a great refresher for someone with very basic French, or for use in text translation. This would not likely be useful for a beginner.

Not just a book of conjugated verbs, this contains a lot of grammar, examples of uses of the words and useful expressions. Things are very clearly explained and needed information easily found. If I could have only one book to help me learn French this would probably be it.

Excellant even for a beginner. It developes your breath for reaching out. On many levels.

This 9th edition is a big improvement over the 5th that I had previously. It's a terrific reference tool and well worth the money

VERY thorough book with not only a ton of verbs, but also: - Multiple indices to easily find a specific verb - Explanations of all the included verb tenses - Example sentences and expressions - Notes on patterns of verb conjugation My French has improved drastically in just the few days that I've had this book.

These type of verb conjugation books seem old school and out of date with all that is available on the internet, but I still really like turning physical pages and seeing one verb in all its various forms on one page. For some reason, I feel like it helps me remember what I am learning better. I took one star off for the quality of the paper. The inside pages are similarly colored to news print paper and don't have the heft and quality of earlier editions.

Just got it and skimmed through the book. It's very clearly authored with the verbs and example sentences laid out. Plus there is an online practice makes this an excellent buy. Just that the packing was a little flawed. It wasn't shrink wrapped and was left open in the box. And it looked like a returned book as it was slightly soiled with blunt corner tips and slight tear at the top left corner. A little disappointed. Had to use alcohol wipes to try clean the dirt. Didn't really totally come off though better.

O livro é prático e muito útil por trazer várias conjugações na mesma página. Uso muito para composições escritas e para pesquisas no geral. O custo benefício é excelente comparado com outros livros do mesmo tipo.

OK - so as we all know, duolingo doesnt teach you how to speak a language with explanation, it just repeatedly hits you over the head with repetition. This book is really helpful to understand more and getting it right with understanding, not just parrot fashion. NB the verb "Voir" now isnt that one weird between the present tense, passe compose and then conditional..... have referred to Barrons on this one. NB This is a chunky book and the packaging was not up to the weight - it got damaged in transit and had to be returned. 2nd one only slightly better

I agree that this is a very useful additional reference resource.
