"Price Guide" Not Worth the Price
Just received the Beckett Non-Sports Almanac....and though I am glad I bought in on Amazon (as i saved over $12 from the cover price), it was not what I was expecting.First of all, it is NOT a softcover book...it is more like a glorified magazine, very flimsy with cheap paper. Second, the type is so tiny, so miniscule, I could barely read it...and my eyesight is excellent when reading, and I have never had trouble reading anything printed in my whole life!As far as the content, it is sorely lacking, as far as completeness is concerned. The first set I looked up, Mod Squad Topps, which should be listed under the book's section on Post War Vintage, wasn't there; many of the sets listed have no prices (for example, Frankenstein Valentine Stickers), as a matter of fact there is an ad for Beckett.com that reads "Can't find your cards in this magazine? We've got it online *for as low as $6.75 per month." There is only One Ad for a non sports dealer (that i've never heard of) among only a handful, so those disappointments alone already add up to definitely not worth the cover price for me.The only reason I have not rated the book one star is that there are some positives for consumers looking for what I was not looking for. There is a great modern section for cards printed from 1981 - 2015 that is very complete in its detail. Again there are some sets with no prices, but fewer; and there are lot of prices for signed cards and chase cards. There is a real overabundance of card titles and prices though....does anyone really need to read the titles of each and every card of the whole 198 cards of the 1992 set Barbie and Friends? Every card is listed at $0.20 each Hi price and $0.07 Lo. There are many many many sets listed such as this. There are also other sections that may appeal to more modern collectors than i. There is a section devoted to Bench Warmer that is very valuable for those who want to know names and prices of the models in those sets; there are sections for DC Marvel, Star Trek, Star Wars, and Wrestling that are probably more complete than most other price guides available. And there is a section for action figures and figurines, though it has a lot of holes and no photos (as a matter of fact, there are no photos of any of the sets listed). At least it does have listed Funko figurines, which I have no idea if there are any other price guides with their values. Although, for any of the collectibles listed in this book, it's pretty easy to just go on eBay and find what something's worth. My advice is to either find a bookstore or newsstand that carries Non Sports Update and buy that for $6, as it is very informative beyond just values, and it has a lot of ads for dealers... or you can even go on their website and pay a few extra bucks for shipping to get it. To me, it is the best publication for non sports cards that exists. I wish I would have taken my own advice, saved over $16 and got a real current indication of what non sports card sets are going for these days. But that's why I wrote this review----to save you time, money, and the aggravation.

It would have been nice to have had all the sets listed in alphabetical ...
I was very unhappy when I opened up this price guide to find there were so many sets without prices. It would have been nice to have had all the sets listed in alphabetical order instead of leafing back and forth trying to find a certain set. It would also would have been nice to have a picture of a card from each set to let collectors know what at least the cards looked like. The large format is bulky and hard to store on a shelf with other smaller guides. If it seems I'm bashing Beckett for their first attempt to do a non-sport price guide, I'm not entirely. Thank you Beckett for at least attempting to give us non-sport collectors a long awaited guide, other than the non sport update magazine, which is a fine magazine.I hope the next will be better.

bargain bin material
big disappointment, this price guide has no sample photo examples of the set and some sets have no prices either! I would not trust any values in this book because it so incomplete.poorly done

Lacking much material of cards printed in ghe last 60 years'
IT lacked information, provided in the 60's and 70's price guides. e.g. Coca Cola Cards in 1995, old Davy Crockett cards in the fifties, ETC.

The fact that there isn't a Becketts Monthly Price Guide ...
The fact that there isn't a Becketts Monthly Price Guide makes it a necessasary evilHowever while the cover is thicker than the monthly magazine it's no different and therefore over priced
