Call the Midwife: Season Nine (DVD)

Ignore low reviews! Awesome show!
Excellent show and hopefully more seasons to come. I feel like this is a show that if you haven't watched previous seasons that you could still enjoy and not feel lost. Ignore the low reviews, people did not bother to read before buying that the episodes would each be released the day after they air. It's not amazon's deception, it's their own stupidity

I own all 9 seasons on DVD and rewatch and binge over and over
Excellent period drama in every aspect from costumes and props, to actors and writing. Super, if that's a good 1960's superlative. Call the Midwife moved into the year 1965. History literally came dramatically alive. The series offers great 60's music too. It's London history but the social changes of that era paralleled the USA and other countries. It was the beginning of the world growing smaller. Churchill died--the change of the guard. This DVD series begins with the Christmas special episode and was truly outstanding even by Call the Midwife's high standards. The setting was the Outer Hebrides making it eye appealing to the max. The bonus material offers more on the Christmas episode filming.I began buying this with the very first episode, before the world noticed. I continue to stick with DVDs by choice.SDH SUBTITLES are available if desired.

Wrong version
The series is perfect. Writing, acting and production are all perfect. The DVDs for Season 9 were different from the previous seasons. Disc one was the full length, BBC versions of the Christmas special and episodes one and two. Discs two and three were the heavily cut, PBS versions. The best part of purchasing the DVDs has always been viewing the extra 10 minutes or so of each episode. They did well with the return and refund.

I love this series!
I look forward to this series so much, every season can't come fast enough. I'm so thankful to have found it here so I don't have to wait for PBS here in the U.S. Also, I've heard that PBS cuts some of the episodes due to time, so I like to know I get to see entire episodes. (Don't know if that was the entire truth or not, just something I read on some sites.) Also for some reason, though I have it scheduled to record through Direct TV, sometimes the episodes don't show up for a while, if at all. I haven't figured out why, so I decided to search here. Problem solved!I thought BBC had finished Season 9 and all of the episodes would be available but I guess not. I've pretty much binged all available right now, though. It's fine, I should "savor" it more and not binge watch. It's like tearing oneself away from a great book, it's very hard to "put down". Thanks again for having this available here.

Took my money did not give me my season only 3 episodes
I was definitely disappointed to find out I paid $17.00 for only 3 episodes. I will NEVER order anything like this again

Incredibly misleading! Only episodes!
It appeared from the Fire-stick on my TV that this was "Season 9" not just the Christmas special that was 2 episodes which I already watched a long time ago. I can t cancel the purchased because I tried to watch and look for the new season. I am so very disappointed!

Surprisingly interesting in its ninth season.
This popular British series is able to continue capturing the interest of Americans year after year. Perhaps it is because mid-wifes are not as popular here or as integrated into the national health care system as appears to be the case in Great Britain. In any event, superb care was provided to people of limited means before the advent of easily available birth control methods, and the public acceptance of those methods.

Love this show
This arrived today and I was very much looking forward to seeing the Christmas special again and also an episode about an abandoned baby. I am editing a previous review. I had problems getting the closed captioning to work but finally figured it out and am again enjoying the show on DVD. I feel like it is a history lesson! The actresses and actors are all so wonderful. Highly recommend. They do warn that some scenes may not "be suitable for all viewers" but I believe that anyone 13 or older would be fine watching this show. It also gives us a chance to see the advances in medical care over time.

Wonderful!
I love Call the Midwife as I grew up in that era. I can relate to this historic storyline even though my upbringing was far from city life - the basics were the same - but I've loved being in the East End with Call the Midwife. Lovely to be reminded of what care and community meant in those days of coming back from WWII plus embracing the changing world around us. NHS were making big changes - both my sister and I were born in hospital in the early 50's. Now that series 9 takes us into the mid 60's I was taken back to Mini skirts! Colourful fabrics! Make do and mend! How lucky was I to have access to a treadle Singer sewing machine unlike the nuns and the hand machine they used! Really looking forward to buying series 10 now that it is on the market!

Absolut empfehlenswert !!!

Delivers what we've come to expect
This series of Call the Midwife delivers what we've come to expect - good writing, well-researched period 'feel', tears and cheers as personal stories draw the viewer in. Favourite characters return and we see their lives moving forward as the years roll on. Nonnatus House is under threat of the bulldozers once again, but supporters rally round and the work carries on.

Curl up on the couch and enjoy
I am glad to see the installments I missed on TV, the stories are excellent and also the props are so well chosen it brings up many memories of the times (60's).The acting is superb and I am so glad to have bought these DVD's. It is cold outside in Holland and I was glad to be warmed by all the plots.
