Lots of fun!
This second book has just as much excitement, suspense, and action as the first and picks up where the first book ends. In this installment, Cass, Jake, and the Clan have several more surprising twists and turns thrown their way as they continue the fight to end her psychotic father’s quest for power. Things definitely heat up and move at a faster pace when an old enemy returns with some shocking news and brings two of Cass’s long-lost siblings along for the ride. Cass’s resilience and determination shine as well as her protectiveness towards her newfound family. Though she is still learning how to use and control her powers, she takes another step to aid them all in the upcoming war against her father and his mind-controlled fanatics as foreseen by a powerful Selkie seer in the Clan. More knowledge is gained regarding her father’s diabolical plans, new alliances are forged, family reunited, powers expanded and much more in this exciting read. The characters are engaging and believable and the author does a good job of bringing them to life with their dialogue, actions, and various conflicts. I am really enjoying this series and I am looking forward to what the author has in store next for Cass, Jake, and the Clan.

Big Hearted, Compelling Heroine!!!
FORGED FROM FLAME: Phoenix on the Rise - Book 2 is a fast-paced adventure that propels you through the experiences of a woman named Cassidy as she grows into her newly discovered supernatural roots. FORGED FROM FLAME picks up right where its predecessor left off. Cassidy has fully embraced her bond with Jake and remains fiercely loyal to her small group of family and friends. She has a backbone of steel when she is cornered and while she doesn’t possess an affinity for resorting to violence, Cassidy excels at holding her own in situations where she and her “team” are threatened. As her newly discovered magical abilities continue to develop, Cass grapples with her identity and skillsets as more elements of her past emerge to shake her beliefs. She is forced to work with an unlikely ally, while other characters are introduced that further confuse Cassidy regarding their allegiances. In this installment, Cassidy begins to gather clues about her powers and suspects that she is more of an anomaly in the magical community than she originally anticipated. Her relationship with her new family continues to grow and evolve as they begin to understand one another better and fledgling friendships form. Kasey Mackenzie fleshes out the main characters naturally as her story unfolds and I found that I was given enough background information to feel satisfied, but at the same time I am left wanting to peel away more of the layers that comprise Cassidy’s magical origins.Book 2 in The Phoenix on the Rise Series is a great continuation of Cassidy and Jake’s story!

Forged From Flame is is Red Hot !
I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.Forged From Flame, Book #2 in the Untamed Elements Series blasts out of the gate straight at the beginning , and never slows down ! Kasey Mackenzie has a hit series on her hands.Phoenix Cassidy leads off this book with new and expanding powers that she needs to learn to manage quickly, as well as learning of new siblings, her mate Jake's twin being alive, an enemy at the door asking for asylum, and more craziness by Daddy to try and bring her over to his side, among other issues.I love how the characters keep expanding in depth, while new ones are added to the mix.Not going to lie, I'm also jealous of how much Cass can eat because of expending magic. This is a fast paced book with something constantly happening every moment. I was sucked in and read the book in two days.I can't wait to read the next installment in this amazing series !

Continues the struggle of the Phoenix, Cass and her Dragon mate, Jake against her father
I read "Reborn in Fire" (Phoenix on the Rise Book 1), and enjoyed it so much I'm continuing the series. The idea of a fire-controlling Elemental (i.e., a Phoenix) is fascinating, especially since the Phoenix – which is featured as part of my alma mater's shield – is also the university's mascot. It would be a good idea to read Phoenix on the Rise Book 1 first; this is a continuation, and the characters have been well-developed in it. This continues the story. The action is fast-paced with a lot of sassy banter among Cass and her old and new families, and her new allies. Magic flies thick and fast in five colors, according to the Elemental involved. Cass is still battling her father and his minions for her physical and mental freedom and in this book, she gets a lot of help from her new-found relatives and friends.Cassidy and Jake are back, continuing the struggle begun in Book 1, now with the help of the Clan. A surprise visit from an old enemy, Bianca, bringing Cass's two siblings, Nic and Dia. They join forces to put a stop to the Stalkers, Dorian and Garrett. Then they join Jake's family, learn many family secrets, collect many new allies (many unexpected), and fight fierce battles when attacked by Garrett and his minions. The numerous enemies include Cass's missing younger brother, Drew. There is just a brief break to catch our breath at the end of the book, before the battle will inevitably continue in the next book. It's not quite a cliff-hanger, but you definitely want to continue the story.

Love this series!
Kasey Mackenzie writes an awesomely well thought out series. The characters are great, the humour is witty and the plot has depth and surprises. Since there was 5 years between the publishing of the first 2 novels, I subtracted one star because it was fairly hard to understand (and remember) the plot/characters etc. I recap before starting this novel would have been extremely helpful. Still....fantastic book. I'm off to read the third novel now!

Engaging kick ass heroine.
Loved loved loved this book, it been a while due to personal problems for the author, however it's well worth the wait, more is learned about Cassidy's evil maniac fathers plans, Cass continues to train her powers and grow in confidence, the book is well written and engages the reader all the way through. I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next in the series.
