Ultraviolet: 69 Classic Blacklight Posters from the Aquarian Age and Beyond Review: Excellent sample of black light posters under normal or black lights! - This art book is fantastic. Each page has a unique, well-printed poster that looks great both under a black light and under normal lighting. The subject matter is an excellent sampling of styles and subject matter, but fair warning, some of the material may not be appropriate for children, mainly of the drug and appreciating feminine form variety, although most of the material is PG. The only two negatives (I almost gave it 4 stars, but I really like the book!): The binding is terrible. The first time we opened the cover, the binding broke. However, this does make taking pages out to mount as posters easier. This leads to the second negative - as a book, having the pages double-sided is great, but if you wish to turn them into wall-mounted posters, you have to choose which side gets shown. That said, I really enjoy the book. I also bought a copy of it for a friend, even after the first had those problems. Review: Buy this book! - THIS BOOK IS WONDERFUL. I would consider myself a poster fanatic-- I have a ton of them, many blacklight posters like the ones in this book. And these are my favorite. I took the posters out of this one to hang up and I am buying another one just to have as a book. The images are high quality, and they glow really well under blacklight. Even the cover of the book looks beautiful under blacklight. Mesmerizing. All my friends ask where I got them. The book was also a little larger than I expected.. I thought it would be about the size of a coloring book but it was a tad bit wider and a few inches taller. I had to trim one significantly to fit it in the clear slot on the front of my 3-ring-binder. I definitely recommend this!

Cheap Blacklight Posters
I bought this for my 41/2 year old son to look at. I went through this book completely beforehand. I dissasembled the binding and pulled out the age-approptiate posters and hung them in his bedroom. There's a bunch of these, design oriented in nature, and I put about 12 on his wall with poster putty, and some screw-in flourescent spiral light bulbs of course. There's many more posters than that left in this collection. The remaining posters have a bunch of cartoon naked hippy chicks, revolutionary political themes, prominent boobs, positive drug use messages and such, standard fare of the more obvious blacklight poster purchasing demographic. I'll put the book away and give it back to him when he's going to college. He'll have some great vintage black light posters to hang up in his swinging pad. Really, lots of good size (11 x 14 or so) blacklight posters. Great purchase at a great price.

This was a great book. I used it to tear them out ...
This was a great book. I used it to tear them out and display on my wall with an ultra violet light. They looked beautiful. It contained posters of every style and even some posters of great rock bands. They are printed back to back so if you plan on displaying them on your wall like I did you will really have half of the 69 posters. Beats buying individual posters though.

Like a lysergic acid flashback...
Seeing "House Of Stone" in all its true fluorescent glory for the first time in 41 years brought this memory flooding back. My three friends and I were making plans at his house in Brigantine (his parents were out) one night out in early 1972. Ben handed me a whiskey and coke, which I downed. A few mintues later, listening to music in his bedroom, under blacklight, I suddenly felt a strange "fizzing" in my head. I raced into the bathroom, and looking into the mirror saw my pupils were blown. He had dosed me with two tabs of notoriously powerful Orange Sunshine and I spent the next 22 hours listening to Ummagumma and staring at House of Stone and Koth the Dark Angel under black light. At times terrified, later ecstatic, then terrified again, it was an unforgettable "journey" into the cosmos (or maybe it was just my brain lit up like a pinball machine). This book is obviously a labor of love and the lithography is very well done. Mr. Donahue must have a technique for taking the original poster, separating the component colors, and then reprinting in authentic fluorescents. He is missing fluorescent "red", but I suppose that is a quibble. For $15 the price and reproduction is excellent. The true pyschedelic poster "artists" from the West Coast and elsewhere are not represented here. These are largely "commercial" posters from that era. There were thousands of commercial blacklight posters from that era (Endless Summer, The Burden of Life is Love, Keep Your Head) that aren't shown here (some of which I still own), and I would love to see a second volume with additional examples.

Got two copies, the cover wasn't glued to the pages on both.
This is a great book, tremendous content, specially for those interested on seeing good contrast of psychedelic neon colors and graphics. One thing, I ordered this book twice, and both times the cover wasn't glued to the pages. Had to keep the first copy that I received since the second one that was sent to me in return was in worst shape. Other than that, if you're into psychedelic stuff and your eyes find pleasure in bright BRIGHT BIRGHT COLORS, get this book, it is worth it.

Groundbreaking Psychedelic Art From The LOVE And Peace Generation!
This is a fantastic book! I remember a lot of these posters advertised in magazines such as 'TEEN, Seventeen, and various comic books when I was a tween and young teen in the early 1970s. It's great to actually be able to see this groundbreaking artwork up close, and what variety in styles! From radical militant, to subtle and sublime, to down right sweet and cutesy-pie! I got a sneeking suspicion I may end up buying another copy to tear up and use as wall art.

I'm actually one of the people that bought this twice ...
I'm actually one of the people that bought this twice so i wouldn't miss out on any of the posters, as it has prints on both sides of the pages. i removed the pictures and hung them on my wall. they are black light reactive, but keep in mind the dimensions - they are not the size of standard posters, and they aren't fuzzy. they have a lot of interesting messages relevant in the sixties.
