AMACO Marblex™ Self-Hardening Clay, 5 lbs.

I got this today, I really like that all the directions for handling clay is right on the box such as to keep a damp rag on it while working with it and how to dry the items one makes, such as to hollow out a larger item to help it dry quicker and more uniformly. I hope my grandson loves it. He's always so "bored". He can write but I feel that everybody needs to do things with our hands. Everyone has talent! I will update to how it is to work with after he does it.

This clay works well for square-bowls.

My daughter and I used this for a contest. Created a sculpture, which included small parts of clay created as well. The form was nice and clean up is a breeze. Air dried in a couple of days for the thicker portions. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because it's EXTREMELY fragile once dried. I had to fix pieces after we were completed by gluing them with E6000 but overall the project was creative and easy to use.

Great clay. Very workable and hardens nicely. I am an expressive arts therapist and use it with my clients of all ages. It is easy to mold and holds the mold nicely. Air dries very well.

I waited around a month for the clay, and when I opened the package it looked like this. Its open and the box looks worn. I'm glad the clay is intact, and I just received it so i haven't used it yet, but this is crazy. Maybe it's because it took a month and it had to get from place to place??

The clay is used for taxidermy. We’ve always used Marblex in our studio. Great product!!

Very poor quality product. It is very brittle and suffers from extreme shrinking leading in almost any use to cracking. If I hadn't used so much trying to make it work I would have requested a refund. I recommend trying to find a different product.

This clay is easy to work with, easy to clean up, and dries into a nice firm material. The paint soaks in fast which I like because my projects are dry in just a few minutes!

Lovely to work with although I wasn't aware this couldn't be used over rigid armature so I had a lot of shrinkage cracks to deal with.

The product is perfect and it arrived early!

To be honest, I haven't used the product yet as it just came today. BUT, the box containing the clay was ripped and open and the bag the clay was supposed to be wrapped in was open at one end. So, I'm not sure if this was a returned product or what but I'm less than amused. I weighed the clay to see if it in fact weighed the five pounds in case it had been a return and some was missing. It was about 4 lbs. So, I'm still debating whether or not to return it. The clay itself looks okay. It is moist but compacted very well. I was really looking forward to sculpting but....

Very nice clay. Sturdy when dry.

its air dry clay, when i opened it the bag inside was unraveled and the whole block was hardened because it was exposed to air. It took so much time to knead it back into usable clay, after it hardened it cracked everywhere. the time, effort money and mess is why im leaving a 1 star.
