You would want a soft polymer plastic mouthguard, and that's what this mouthguard has. However, the vertical walls of this mouthguard are so thin that your jaw can move from side to side. As mentioned the material is very thin so it doesn't stabilize the jaw and there is no shock-absorbing ability.I followed the directions and molded the mouthguard to my jaw and for that reason, this is not returnable.I recommend spending more money on a mouthguard that has better quality and is returnable. My last mouthguard sold for the same price as the Meister Mouthguard and was returnable, but that was several years ago and no longer available on Amazon.If you are looking for stability and shock-absorbing in a mouthguard theMeister Moldable Double Mouthguard w/Case is not for you.

Personally i messed them up in the molding process so i will be buying another one ; but i still ended up being able to use them for sparring, they are very durable but sorta chewy at the same time which is good because its not so hard on the teeth when biting down. They also absorb impact good. Price is very good for the quality. 👍🏻

Very decent for its price. Most double guards make it hard for you to breathe in, so this was no different. This product is the best and cheapest option so far that I've come across. It works with braces and keeps them protected. When boiled, the mouth will fit almost perfectly.

Bought 3 double mouthguards recently because the state I moved to requires them for competition. The Moldable Double Mouthguard from Meister MMA was the most comfortable and easiest to mold (only had to boil & bite once). This is the mouthguard I'll be using.Update: used this from 2014 to August 2019. Got more use out of this mouthguard than any I have ever bought. Only stopped using it because I left it in a pocket, it went into the wash, and came out an unrecognizable lump. Currently re-ordering.

I got this to wear with a c-pap to prevent me from breathing through my mouth. I thought the plastic piece filling the hole in the middle could be left in, but it's only for molding, and doesn't stay in otherwise. Worse though was the molding itself, which I just couldn't get to work. The instructions say boil for 10 seconds, then allow to cool briefly before inserting into mouth to form-fit. However, even with only an extremely short wait (~2 seconds), it didn't mold at all to my teeth. Most mouthpieces I've used suggest boiling for 30 seconds, so I tried that, and it still wouldn't budge at all. Maybe I just have magic water that boils at an extremely low temp.

Did not realize we needed to "mold" to my son's mouth. We were about to return when I went to the website and found that there is a video to watch to mold the mouthpiece. After we boiled and molded it, my son found it very comfortable.
