Joints tack up fast and are reversible. This is the same type of natural hide glue that has been used by woodworkers for hundreds of years due it's durability and versatility, fast tacking and strong joints. To prepare J. E. Moser's hide glues mix about 50/50 with cool water and warm to approximately 145° to 155° F. before use. For re-gluing an old hide glue joint you simply add more glue without scraping: These glues are stronger than commercially prepared liquid hide glues when properly mixed. Although these hide glues provide quick grab they allow repositioning. Open times can be extended by heating the wood using a hair dryer, heating pad, infrared light or a warm shop and slightly diluting the glue mixture with water. Warm, moist heat can be used to release bonded joints. That's the real advantage or benefit of using this glue - it is reversible! Note: When gluing soft woods, 100-150 psi clamping pressure is recommended - 175-250 psi for hardwoods.

Work well
We do a good deal of wood working and find hide glue indespensible for certain applications--like mixing with very fine sawdust to make stainable paste with which to fill smallish holes, lines, etc.
