Great water bottle
We now have six of these BPA free water bottles. Clearly a winner in our household. CAMELBAK BPA-FREE BETTER BOTTLE WITH BITE VALVE: - Older model with the thin straw - Takes getting used to for drinking (bite silicone valve and suck water through vs just open and sip) - While the straw is thinner than the Eddy, I never had that much of a problem with it CAMELBAK EDDY BOTTLE SIZE .6 Liter/20 ounce bottles - Our kids take two to school each day, one on each side of their backpacks. Perfect size for them and for short day trips on weekends .75 Liter/24 ounce bottles Great for me at work. I take two with me each day and it's enough water for the whole day and a trip to the gym 1-Liter/32 ounce - Doesn't fit in my car cup holder (too big) and doesn't last the whole day if I go to the gym - Too big for my hand to comfortably pick up when full. It's too wide. Works for my husband, not for me CAMELBAK EDDY CAPS - New Eddy cap = wider straw easier to pull water through the straw HOWEVER the bite valve takes more time to break in - not sure I like it as much as the older version. The older model and Eddy lids are not compatible because the opening for the straws do not match - Does leak a tiny bit of water from the silicone bite valve from time to time, but if closed properly they don't in general leak - The bite valve folds into the cap easily, and with the press of a finger pulls right back out of the cap. Great design because there's no need to touch the bite valve to move it; it's notched at the base CAMELBAK MANY COLORS - Easy for our family to grab the one that belongs to us and go. However when school started back up, I noticed that the water bottle table is packed with Camelbaks of all different colors. We ended up labeling just in case. :) CLEANING - EASY - BUT BE CAREFUL ABOUT REMOVING THE BITE VALVE - We wash them DAILY w/unscented dish soap. We empty the bottles, pull off the straws, pull off the bite valves - PULL GENTLY SIDEWAYS otherwise it can break the plastic connector to the bite valve - fill the sink with hot soapy water, soak for about 15 minutes, use a bottle brush (OXO OXO Good Grips Bottle Brush is my favorite) and drain sink and bottles. Rinse sink, refill with clean water, rinse out everything and put inside sink drainer Progressive International Collapsible Over the Sink Dish Drainer . Takes about 10 minutes. No big deal and ours have never had any issues. DURABILITY These have been dropped countless times. Not even a crack so far.

Great and Convenient Water Bottle
The bottle has a slick bite mechanism that only allows liquid to go through the nozzle if pressure is applied (by teeth). However, for those thinking this would save time, it won't. The nozzle still needs to be pulled out of its horizontal position and be bitten for liquid to go through. A similar water bottle with a normal opening would just the same amount of steps to drink. But the point of buying this bottle is for a sturdy and well built bottle that is fun to use. The 1 liter version is quite large, but can fit comfortably into a Northface backpack side pocket. I would recommend most people to get a smaller size than 1 liter, especially if the water bottle is going to be carried by hand.

Better than the "Better" Bottle
After trying dozens of other reusable bottles my wife and I tried out the Camelbak "Better Bottle" (750 ml) and fell in love with it about three years ago. We use them everyday, at work, the gym and everywhere in between. After considerable abuse the spout caps broke and the spout connectors had come unhinged so we needed new bottles. We were a bit hesitant but liked the way the design looked for the new Camelbak "Eddy" (750 ml). Verdict: The Eddy is better than the Better bottle. Pros: - Spout cap is now fully covered and integrated as part of the removable rubber bite valve cover which protects it from being damaged. Great idea to protect the integrity of the spout and it also works to protect things the bottle may knock into. The Better Bottle's cap end, which you use to flip the spout open was exposed and made of hard plastic...needless to say the thing was just begging to be chipped or broken with every drop or fumble. Great upgrade! - Bottle tops are a little more sleek-looking and the plastic seems to be a bit softer and more supple. Again, a bonus for when (not if) you drop this thing. You likely will not damage it, but when it is full it is pretty hefty. Softer plastic may save it from damaging whatever it hits. - The plastic straw is bigger, meaning it is wider and can draw more fluid in. Much needed upgrade. My biggest complaint with the Better Bottle was that you would have to work a little too hard to draw fluid up, especially during workouts when you are really thirsty and want water fast. The bigger straw is a big bonus. - Bottle top seems to be a better (tighter) fit. We had some issues with the Better Bottles leaking when not screwed on SUPER tight. That may have been from washing and use, but the tops on the Eddy seem to be a easier and tighter fit. - Camelbak guarantees the product for life. I doubt I will have to test their policy out, but that should make you feel confident in this purchase. Cons: - The bottle top for the Eddy, like the Better Bottle, has little nooks and crannies where mold will grow if you don't wash religiously. It will also grow in the straw pretty easily. You just can't stick it in the dishwasher and guarantee that you get it all clean. You pretty much have to use a small brush to get in there and get the mold out. I recommend getting the cheapest brushes you can find, not the overpriced Camelbak kit (we actually use our daughter's baby bottle brushes). Also, the Camelbak cleaning tabs, while super convenient, are also a waste of money. Just get a big generic bottle of distilled white vinegar, mix it at a three-to-one parts ratio of water to vinegar and use that solution to sanitize it and clean out the mold. We try to soak the bottle in the solution once a month or so for a few hours, brush clean all the parts with the solution, and then drop it all in the dishwasher to get the solution (and its horrible taste and smell) off. We just drop them in the dishwasher once a week for routine maintenance without using the solution for a quick clean. - The Eddy on Amazon is a bit overpriced. We bought our first two Eddy bottles at $15 a pop with free Prime shipping. Not bad, but we found a better deal with free shipping (not two day, but close) online and got three more Eddy bottles for $12 a pop. - Amazon is listing the 750ml Eddy as a "Kid's" bottle...its not the Kid-sized version. Also, many of the pictures don't match up with the actual product you are getting on Amazon's site. Just do a little research and you should be fine. That's it. Great product for you and the environment. Probably the best $15 you will ever spend as it will probably pay for itself in month or two.

Leaks!
I am on my fourth camelbak bottle in the last year or so. I don't know why I keep buying, this will be the last one. I like the design and the drinking spout. The last two I've bought have had a leak in the top within a week or two of the purchase. I have to always carry it upright or water will spill out. I can't put it in my purse, or things will get wet. I think the leak is coming from the seam where the lid connects. Also the plastic connector to the rubber spout broke on the first two bottles I had, leaving the rubber piece to be wobbling and leaky. Haven't had that issue with this one.

I've been using these specific bottles for a long time. These bottles seem to be authentic, but the bite valve feels different. It is a bit more rigid and the water doesn't flow quite as well. This is why I prefer these older model Edy bottles and therefore its 2 stars. Not sure what the problem is...
