saved my expensive lens...I wouldn't have been able to replace.
I had my camera in a bag. The bottom broke and when I looked down my lens and camera body were separate. I looked and tried to put the lens back on but it didn't work. There was a small piece of the circle I ordered broke off.....I mean3mm at most. I pleasantly surprised that a replacement was listed on Amazon. It was a little price compared to what a lens would cost so I thought, well I can try. Let me tell you it worked. It took a while to get it on, quite some time but it was fixed and so far works great, I have had a lot of time to try the focus but I believe it's ok. I was so glad it save my lens. Thanks! Great way to save a lens
This flange fit and functioned perfectly and saved a lens worth several hundred dollars. Just be aware that the attachment screws are nearly microscopic and must be disassembled/assembled with jewelers tools. Go to Youtube and watch it being done a couple of times before diving in. Also, there is a minute grounding plunger that is attached to an extremely fragile wire which will snap in a heart beat so be super careful when reassembling the ring to the lens not to stress this wire. I wasn't and it snapped. Fortunately there was enough extra wire in my case but trimming the insulation from the wire was nearly impossible and there were a few tense moments in the process.

Saved my beloved lens!
Saved my beloved lens! When I accidentally knocked my camera off the table and saw my beloved Nikon 18-105 lens and body lying apart on the floor my heart sank. Partially because it is a great everyday lens and partially because I was in the attic taking picture of a leak around chimney :( While I still have to figure out cost of roof repair, I was able to take care of the lens myself. The whole replacement process took less than 40 minutes, mostly because I took my time ensuring I don’t miss a step or screw. It is really straight forward and if you know how to use screwdriver you can fix it yourself. I was looking for a genuine part but couldn’t find it anywhere. The fit of this lens mount was perfect. All screw holes were aligned. The only iffy thing is that it is made of cheap plastic. While I was mounting the ground wire spring loaded mount it tore the screw hole since it was too tight, since it was too tight it still held the screw in place. I am not sure if it will loosen up over time. Took a star off for that reason.

Fits AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR but poor quality
Updating my review after using the part for a few days. The quality of manufacturing or control is indeed very poor. One of the three screw holes has widened and the screw is no longer securing it, the ring is only being held on by 2 screws and the lens wobbles on my camera. I will be ordering the part mentioned by the top reviewer instead. Previous Review: This fit my AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR even though a previous reviewer said it did not fit theirs. The contacts line up correctly and auto focus continues to work. The plastic does not have the sheen of the original and seems to be of cheaper quality, Let's hope it lasts. I suspect that some of the problems noticed by other reviewers is due to manufacturing variations and poor quality control of this part.

Replacement for broken bayonet mount ring.
This is the plastic piece that interlocks with the bayonet lock on the camera body, and the flanges broke off when I dropped the camera, knocking the lens off. It came with no instructions, but installation was straightforward albeit complex. Ideally, you'll use JIS microscrewdrivers (not Phillips) to disassemble the lens. This is not a repair for a novice, but it saved me hundreds of dollars for a repair or a new lens. The part fit perfectly and the lens is completely restored to full operation.

A few installation tips
I've just installed this, but it seems sturdy enough and everything appears to function--focus, zoom, and aperture. I agree with another comment here on the best YouTube video to watch for this: "How to replace Bayonet mount on Nikkor 18-105 lens", 13:03 long. Other useful pointers from the comments: - Handle the very tiny cable inside the lens EXTREMELY carefully so you don't break it - The hole that the tiny cable screws back into on the new bayonet ring is not tapped. You should pre-tap it with the appropriate screw before attempting to reassemble.

Very economical way to repair a kit lens I would have discarded otherwise
When the mount on my 18-105 kit lens broke I simply replaced the lens with a faster and (in most ways) more capable lens and left this one in the drawer. Taking the (then out of warranty) lens into a repair shop simply wasn't a good investment. This part gave me a way to bring this kit lens back to life (still a very nice, lightweight option when shooting in good light) for well under $10. I've shot with the lens several times since repairing it and have had no issues with the mount, autofocus, metering, etc. I do recommend taking good pictures (or video) during disassembly -- while not complicated you want to be very organized about the process so you don't run into issues during reassembly. The whole process was less than 25min (5min of which was looking for one of those tiny screws due to an unfortunately timed sneeze) and there are a few good videos posted by others for those that want some extra guidance.

Not easy for old eyes and shaky hands
gave 4 stars because the hole for the ground plate isn't threaded. I heated the screw to melt threads into it. The part fit fine otherwise. As others have stated, go to YouTube and see instructions for replacing the bayonet. Not as straight forward as it appears. FYI, the screws are very small, you'll need a very small jeweler's Phillip's tip. I needed magnetized to hold the screws. A note, the housing will pull off after you remove the bayonet. Be extra careful that it doesn't start coming out.
