DEWALT DWMT73814 SAE Drive Deep Socket Set (10 Piece), 1/2"

My tool box is loaded with US made brands names like SK, Snap on, Proto, Wright, vintage NAPA, and vintage Blackhawk (1990s - Proto). I generally don't by offshore tools. generally the quality is not up to snuff (Japan being the exception). I bought these because the reviews were good and I was just going to place them in a tool bag for the trunk of the car.Generally, offshore hand tools use steels that are not standardized (recycled bulk steel), not heat treated properly, and they generally skip the pre-plating steps (appropriate substrate metal) as chrome does not bonded well to steel. Taiwan has upped its game in recent years but it is still hit and miss. That being said, DeWalt seems to be an exception. I found these on par with vintage US made craftsman. Castings are good, tolerances seem tight, and the chrome plating is hard and scratch resistant. I have not really stress-tested these on a stubborn bolts yet, but I suspect they will do just fine. Good value for the money.

I recently did some front end work on my Ford F150 and found out pretty quickly I needed some deep well sockets. I made it through one side, but decided to order these before I did the other side. I have purchased many Dewalt power tools over the years but until now never tried any wrenches or sockets. The price was right though and I figured they were Dewalt, so I expected the quality would be good.I was not disappointed. The quality is up there for sure. Not the top of the list when it comes to hand tools, but pretty dang good at this price point. And the case they come in is pretty cool. Actually more case than I need to be honest. I would have preferred a smaller sleeve type that would not take up so much room in my tool cabinet, but you can't knock Dewalt for the effort.How they hold up over time is the most important factor in a quality tool, so we'll see how that goes. I have some projects lined up over the next year so I will know pretty quick if they will peel, rust or break. If they do, or don't, I will come back and update my review.For now, I can definitely recommend these for anyone who wants a decent set of affordable deep well metric sockets.

Very nice sockets for the price. I needed some deep-well larger sockets and these are perfect. Great case (though I took them out and put them on a strip because it took up a lot of room) . Overall very happy with them.

Purchase these as I needed a deep socket set in my garage. These tools are nice quality and have a nice storage case with them.

Just got these today and there's a lot to like - clear stamped markings, evenly done chrome plating, and a good size range of 13mm-24mm. It does skip 20 and 23, but given how uncommon it is to run into those (never have myself) and the $30ish price tag I don't consider it a problem. Today we had a 19mm nut that just would not budge with my 3/8 drive. Put the 1/2" 19mm socket from this DeWalt set on my new Williams ratchet. After trying to loosen the nut by standing on the ratchet (don't do that, use a breaker bar), we had to use a floor jack underneath the ratchet to finally break this thing loose (again, use a breaker bar!) The DeWalt socket held up great - no stress cracks, flaked chrome, or any other issues. If it can handle that, it'll handle anything else you'd throw at it. Definitely a great buy!

I like these socket sets and te price was great

I had been trying to loosen the bolts holding the front bumper on my 1987 F150 (that probably hadn't moved since 1987) and ordered these and a 2ft long torque wrench. I was putting so much pressure on the bolt that I was pulling the entire front of the truck down on its suspension before the nut started moving. The socket stood up to this abuse without any issues at all. These deep sockets are a must-have for situations like this.

Tight little socket set. Gets the job done for 90% of applications. May need other sizes for broader application than cars. It's Dewalt, it's good stuff
