Another great DeWalt 20v cordless tool
I'm no environmentalist, so this review isn't here to convince anyone to go electric; I'm not into that, but if that is your thing, you won't be disappointed. I chose this model because as I age, my love of horsepower is giving way to a back that wants less of a load and this little weed whacker does that exceptionally well. It is incredibly easy to use, no need for ear plugs, no fuel to mess with, and no difficult starting or having to winterize the carburetor. Pop in a DeWalt 20v battery and you are in business. The twine it came pre-loaded with seems just right for this tool; I will be ordering more of that. I ran it for about an hour before having to switch batteries. It cuts very well and is easy to control. By far, the easiest weed whacker I have ever used. Being electric, it doesn't have the vibration of a gas-powered machine and the light-weight cordless design is so much easier than any corded unit I have ever used. A true winner all around! The only con is that if you have a lot of trimming to do, you will need at least one extra battery to recharge while you are using the one on the tool. Otherwise, expect some downtime to recharge. But fortunately, unlike the electric car, the extra batteries aren't very expensive and are changed in only a few seconds. I highly recommend this tool. Thank you DeWalt for another winner in your 20v cordless line-up.

Does the job with ease
I finally gave up on my old gas trimmer and it’s problems and went with this trimmer. I’ve been very happy with my Dewalt cordless tools at work so I bought a leaf blower last year. It’s worked great for what I’ve needed for so I looked into this trimmer. The batteries are interchangeable so that’s why I checked this one out. I watched a video review and liked what I saw so I purchased without comparing to others. It was about $15 more at Home Depot and since their customer service sucks I saved the money and ordered here. I’m very happy with the power of this trimmer. It cut through some decently thick grass with ease. The battery life lasted me just as long as I needed it on my 1/2 acre or so lot. It only started to slow at the end but was still cutting the grass easily. For $200 after taxes I think this is a hell of a deal. My only negative is the head is heavier than the battery end so it did wear a little on my shoulders and wrist since there is no strap to help balance the weight out. I’ll create my own and it’ll probably be just fine.

Quiet, lightweight, sturdy, and wicked!
Very quiet. No more earplugs! This just arrived an hour and a half ago. The battery didn't come fully charged. I used one of my other 5Ah batteries. That's another thing. The ad says it comes with a 4Ah battery, but it comes with a 5Ah one. It's lightweight. The only thing that affects the weight is the size of the battery. The pole that folds is very sturdy. It only took about 5 minutes to assemble completely. The d-handle is comfortable. The shield is very good. Adequate size. For the head, it operates very well. Obviously, I haven't had to refill it yet. The string is very narrow. But very sturdy and effective. It is more wire-like than any string I have used before. I like it! Being as thin as it is, it's more knife-like when trimming. I got this electric trimmer because of my gas-powered ones, The carbs always mess up over the winter. Seems like every summer I would have to get new carbs. Not to mention the gas. One trimmer uses 50:1 mix, another uses 40:1. And still another uses straight gas. I tried to fire them up last month and none of them worked. Not that they used a lot of gas, but that is one thing I won't have to buy anymore. One word though. The shaft under the head can get clogged when trimming high grass/weeds. But that is with any trimmer. This one is easy to unclog. I think this one is better than the new 60-volt trimmer. No modifications are needed as far as I am concerned. My wife always struggled with my other trimmers, for one reason or another, but I think she is going to like this one.

Works great
I got my trimmer yesterday after 7 days. I assembled it, and charged the battery. THE GOOD: It is NOT bashful, plenty of power and cut grass and weeds without any problems. The controls are positioned very handy and easy to use. I like the folding bar that makes it easier to hang for storage. The battery pack appears compatible with my DeWalt drill. I was able to trim my whole yard with out having to advance the cutter string, Very tough stuff. I just ordered a 225 foot package of it and it will probably last me for years. Trimmer is very quiet when running, much quieter than my old cordless one. It is well balanced and by placing your arm on the battery case you can help with the balance. THE NOT SO GOOD: My first dislike came when I tried to read the manual. It is printed on very pore, cheap paper and organized very poorly. My eye site is not the best and I had to get my magnifying glass out to read it. I would suggest if you buy one is to go on line and google the trimmer and download and print it out. I was able to find a Youtube video that very good with much better instructions to replace the string and use the trimmer. All in all I am pleased with it and will more than likely buy other DeWalt yard tools.

Amazing
Where has this been all my life! I love it! It is so quiet to use. Best part no gas or oil to deal with. Just squeeze the trigger and go. So simple to use. No pulling a rope until you think your arm is going to fall off before it finally starts! And you don’t smell like gas and fumes when you finish. It is really built well. You can see and feel the quality! I was able to go around my house and garage, up both sides of driveway, and down both sides of sidewalk, and finally around the trees and shrubs with one charge on the battery. It ran down just as I finished. I was impressed with the power it has. Just as good or better than my gasoline weedeater. Perfect!! I highly recommend!

Product works great battery life not bad for the size of my yard. I had to buy an extra battery. We’re 60 feet wide by 180 long fence housing Gardens all to go around so I’d say I’ll all around. It’s a good product. I have no complaints about it.

I bought this because of the reviews which are actually quite good after I purchased it. I read other reviews on Google and they weren’t so good so then I was Leary. I’ve got it home and Charged the battery that it came with and tried it. It seemed like it ran out right away maybe 10 or 15 minutes but it was on high as well, So I charged the battery up along with another spare that I have but I also thought that maybe I should order the big Dewalt large capacity battery which I did and it will be in soon. I started cutting today with the battery it came with and by the time it finally died. I was tired and had done enough to have a break. Unfortunately the other battery was ready and I went at it again and again I was tired out when it was dead. It cuts for a very long time on Low and cuts really well, Most the tall grass I’m going through is at least 2 feet tall just around the buildings and stuff….. So I made the mistake of buying the super huge battery now and I have no idea how long it’s going to be until that one dies and needs to be recharged. I’m pretty sure this trimmer is going out work me every time, I’ll be taking a break before the large capacity dewalt battery runs out of power…... ( Tim the tool man Taylor, “ More power “ ) hahaha…..I went with Dewalt because I have lots of Dewalt tools and I figured I should stay with the same brand of tools and so far I’m happy with this string trimmer. I also like the fact it folds up I think that’s a good feature, definitely for storage.

5 amp battery lasts for my rural half acre property. I've used it for 15 to 20 minutes and had no issues. It feels heavy on the trimmer/bottom end but is a light weight when compared to gas unit. Very powerful on 'low' (battery save mode). I haven't had to use 'high', and I've cut some (relatively) pretty long grass and thistle. I do own 4 more 5 amp batteries (so I'm not concerned about running out of power) but I'd recommend this set, especially for in town properties.
