INSTEAD OF PUTTING A WINTER COAT ON YOUR BABY - PUT A PARKA ON YOUR TODDLER SEAT
One coat, two styles. When worn as a poncho, the toddler may be buckled into their car seat without extra bulk and compromising the safety or function of the car seat harness. The toddler coat has made traveling in the winter with a toddler a lot safer and easier!
With open-ended zippers that run the full length of each sleeve, when the zippers are closed the toddler coat may be worn as a traditional winter coat. Once the toddler is in the car seat the unzipped sides allow for the coat to turn into a poncho. As a poncho the front of the coat is separated from the back, and may be lifted and placed over the back of the seat.
The front zipper of the coat allows for easy removal. Todders are able to unzip, take it off and use it as a blanket - while keeping their seat belt on the whole time. Although the toddler coat was designed to keep the toddler safe in the car seat, we took one step further and added reflective tape to the exterior of the coat for visibility
The toddler coat is constructed of a triple layer of fabrics. The exterior layer is wind and water resistant. The interlining has thermal qualities - a product called Powder fill. The interior is an anti-pill fleece that will stand up to multiple washings.

As babies grow they will out grow their infant seat and will need to transition into a toddler seat. Car seats keep our children safe if and only if they are used correctly. Like the infant car seat - the seatbelt straps harnessing the toddler into the toddler seat must be snug. This is straightforward enough until the cold winter weather approaches. How do you keep your toddler warm and safe? Car Seat Technicians agree that winter coats and car seats do not work and can be dangerous. Snowsuits and winter coats create extra bulk around the toddler. There is a risk of the bulk compressing In a sudden stop or collision causing the straps to loosen around the toddler. It is the safest to have the seat belt straps directly over the toddlers' day clothes where the fabric would be lighter weight and not bulky and have the coat worn on top of the seat belt. When dealing with the infant car seat - a car seat cover is the safest and convenient way to keep baby warm. It goes over the entire seat not interfering with the harness system. A toddler coat should also keep safety and convenience in mind. The ideal toddler coat would keep the child warm while getting to the vehicle and waiting for it to heat up but not interfere with the seat belts. A toddler coat that transitions into a poncho would be ideal. The back of the poncho would be lifted above the back of the seat and out of the way. The fabrics should be triple layered like a winter coat. The exterior should be wind and water-resistant. The inside should be cozy and warm like fleece. A toddler is constantly trying and testing out their curiosity.... they will need a winter coat to be outside. It would be convenient to have one toddler coat that worked for both the car and for outdoors. The toddler coat should be machine wash and dry.
