A good starting point for research
I bought this among a few books on aquaculture. Most of the books resemble family homesteading blogs rather than educational textbooks or business resources, but this is a solid source of information for someone who's serious about medium to large-scale aquaculture. The explanations provided could be longer, there a few editing errors, and there could be more and better visual aids, but major topics are introduced and covered with enough detail that further research into more advanced resources will easily be understood.

Best book on practical aspect of design and operation of RAS systems
This book is correctly seen as a reference book for practical aspects to take into account when designing and operating RAS systems, which are now gaining increasing popularity because of potentially higher yields and better parameter control. The book focus on any practical aspect of design philosophy and equipments involved in the RAS system itself, focusing on water cycling and management and also feeding systems for the fish tanks. You won't find much information on fish biology or hatchery management and also no significant information on selling/treating the fish for sell apart from some description of the equipment involved. In summary, this books really clarify many 'foggy' issues of a typical RAS system, and literally delivers tons of field-based engineering experience that will certainly inspire and instruct the reader who enjoy the engineering part of an operating Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). Strongly recommended.

reference
I bought this as a reference. It has information I may want in the future. What was interesting at the present was looking for areas where the science didn't make sense or was not explained well since I am looking for research areas.

Nothing missed
Clear and knowledgable account of all water treatment needs. First half cover wall water composition needs; from removing solids, maintaining nutrient levels, stripping carbon dioxide, adding oxygen, and the machinery options you have in each case with pros and cons. The second half, I haven’t yet got onto, covers pumping, heating, lighting, purging, and maintenance. I’m enjoying it, reading the book cover to back and will go back through when drawing up an outline of my setup.
