PILOT Parallel Calligraphy Pen Set, 1.5 mm, 2.4 mm, 3.8 mm and 6 mm with Bonus Ink Cartridge (P9005SET)

I bought this set in December of 2015 and I have been using them for several months now. My experience with this pens have been great, I am an illustrator and my first intention was to use them for drawing which has been a whole new experience as the nibs are completely different from regular fountain pen nibs; they can draw pretty well and let you experiment with different type of thickness in lines which is always a great plus when doing inked works. For writing I haven't really done calligraphy, but I have used them for header writings when making notes and stuff like that and they are extremely useful! The write/draw pretty well and have a nice flow with the regular pilot ink, ecoline watercolor inks and pigmented ink (I KNOW! I'm not supposed to use pigmented ink in a fountain pen, but with good care and regular use I haven't found any problems). For me I have found that the Pilot Ink that this pens come with is a little runny and too wet, so I prefer using the ecoline inks and pigmented inks, but that is a taste thing. Regarding the package I got the four Pilot Parallel pens listed here, one of each size (from the 1.5 mm to the 6.0mm), and they all came in their individual packages. The cool thing is that I got one old design with three new ones, so I got and old "cleaning tube" which can be used as a converter for ink although I don't really use it as I have found that cleaning the little tubes after using them and get my pigmented ink in is rather easy and useful. If not I also have tested and used the eye dropper method and it works pretty well without leakage with exception of a few stains around the connection of the body with the nib area, but other than that nothing bigger. The product was delivered in a box well protected and the pens complied with the description of the product. Really good writing (even if I have tried them out in a simple way) and great for drawing! Love the effect you can create with this pens and ink, definitely recommended for artist and illustrators that would like to experiment.

I was a little worried about the quality when I first opened them up because of how lightweight they are, but they write just fine. The widest one you definitely need to slow down a little to keep the ink flow thick, but apart from that I have no complaints. Keep in mind these are ALL wide nibs (even the smallest one is pretty wide), so journaling, etc. is probably out, and they're really only for calligraphy. Despite the pen bodies being plastic, they're a good value considering just one Pilot fountain pen (apart from the disposable ones) will set you back a good $25+.

These pen art the best you just have to learn how to use them practice makes perfect. If you in to calligraphy at all get these.

I am a lefty and interested in learning calligraphy. The writing surface consists of a piece of metal folded in the middle w/holes on the bent edge to allow ink to flow onto the writing surface. The parallel plates are not slanted, thus can be used by left or right handed writers. I ordered this set as it was a full $10 cheaper than at a large dedicated calligraphy vendor. However, after receiving the pens and playing around w/them, I realized that I did not need any of the pens wider than 1.5 mm. Although I am sure that the set is very useful for all sorts of art, drawing and calligraphy projects, for just getting into calligraphy, this set is overkill and I will take full responsibility buying it instead of blaming Pilot for offering it. As a left hander, the pens are easy to operate and I have not smeared anything yet. The pens can be used via the supplied ink cartridge or by dipping pen into ink or brushing ink onto the parallel plates. All of the pens hold a generous amount of ink if you choose to dip or brush. The cartridge contains enough ink to write pages and pages of stuff before running dry. All pens write fairly wet and I never have problems getting a line started. However, choice of paper is important as the wet lines promote feathering if you write on porous paper that sucks in ink. There is no scratching. Line variation, that is drawing a thin vs. broad line is amazingly simple. Using one of the two corners of the parallel plates allows you to write. That line is about the width of a fine fountain pen nib, or about .8 mm. If you are a calligraphy newbie like me, I recommend you purchase only the narrowest of the 4 pens. If you however eventually want to get heavy into calligraphy, I'd advise to purchase all 4 pens for the around $24.00 as piecemeal purchases will cost at least about $32.00 through Amazon or even more elsewhere. I must say it is mesmerizing to write simple letter and embellish them via line variations or creating neat doodles or embellishments to add to notes, letters, or any other documentations. I actually have gotten emails of compliments because I send off an otherwise boringly typed document but adding an easy doodle under my signature line to make the document a bit more personable. It's pretty impressive how folks respond (even the youngens) if they receive stuff old school. Considering the fun I have gotten out of this already, this is a relatively cheap investment (ink is extremely cheap if you decide on dipping, while the ink cartridges can run about $3.50 for a dozen). It certainly adds to the wow factor by embellishing gift packaging for birthday or Christmas gifts. And, the good thing is that even the manliest of man can do it, unless you ain't got the balls :)

Les 4 plumes étaient emballé dans du papier bulle et envoyé dans une grande enveloppe. Tout est bien arrivé. Je connaissais les produits déjà, donc je suis content de les avoir maintenant.

Valen su precio por la simplicidad y los colores son increíblemente vivos. El papelillo incluido trae algunos ejemplos de caligrafia y dibujos que se agradecen a la hora de testear. Lo único que no me convence del todo es lo de mezclar colores porque queda un poco oscuro pero quizá con mas pruebas funcione mejor. Sólo ten presente que no se puede cambiar el cartucho de tinta una vez puesto sin que se estopee.
