Glides Through Bread Like It’s Not Even There
This Shun bread knife is seriously impressive. It cuts through bread so smoothly it barely feels like there's anything there. No tearing, no crumbs, just clean slices every time. I’ve been using it regularly for a few months and it’s still just as sharp as when I first took it out of the box. It feels good in the hand and makes cutting bread way easier than it has any right to be. If you enjoy fresh bread and want a knife that actually keeps up, this is the one to get.

Not just for Bread
This is a very good knife, and not just for bread. It glides through proteins like butter. Very economical if you were ever considering getting the brisket one, as I doubt it does better, except perhaps for super thin slicing.

Excellent quality and sharpness
I own all the Kanso collection, and this is a beautiful bread knife. I like that they are more western than the other Shun collections, and are more durable in use. I wish I owned these in culinary school!

This Cuts Bread
And it cuts bread very well. It's also sharp, very sharp, and could probably slice other things, like your fingers, so don't do that. Also to note regarding sharpness, Shun offers lifetime sharpening, but not for their serrated (bread) knives. Shouldn't be too hard to sharpen with the proper tooling, but something to keep in mind. If you're using exclusively for bread, and why wouldn't you be you're a responsible knife wielder, than it should last you quite a long time.

Love Shun Kanso knives, bread knife is amazing
I really love Shun Kanso knives. I have most of them now and really really wish they would add a few other knife styles to the collection. The bread knife cuts through bread so incredibly smoothly there are barely even any crumbs created. So awesome.

Sourdough necessity
I’ve been baking at least 2 loaves of sourdough per week and this serrated bread knife has been a game changer. Works well. My only complaint is that if you don’t wash and dry immediately, there are prone to rust.
