Poor quality. The metal feels thin, cheap and had a rough surface.

For the segment this razor is in, it's a reasonable budget replaceable straight edge razor.The handle is made from wood, but the wood is very flexible and thin. This is not a handle you want to be exerting force upon.The top portion of the razor, along with the hinge, is serviceable, but of average quality. It will get the job done and isn't gong to hold you back from a good shave. However, the hinge is tight and doesn't swing freely, like a higher quality replaceable straight razor would.Changing blades is quite easy. Simply swing open the back of the blade retainer, and scissor the top portion of the arm apart. From there, simply break a double edge safety razor in half, installed and reverse the process.The shave provided by this is moderately aggressive. It's also going to depend on your skill.The blades included are a nice middle ground in terms of aggressiveness. I prefer Astra or Feather, but these are plenty good enough.In sum, this is a serviceable, budget based replaceable straight razor. It's of decent quality and will get the job done.I'm comfort recommending it as long as you understand these are a different animal than a safety or cartridge razor.Recommended4 starsCheers!

Ben’s Beard’s products are interesting. They have a site (beard . com) dedicated to all things bearded – beard balm, beard oil, beard combs, etc.; yet here is a tool to eliminate one’s beard. Well, maybe not eliminate but rather the option to eliminate if one so chooses. Otherwise, this straight-razor can be used to maintain the areas around the beard. Ben’s Beard’s products are designed by men for men. So I guess if you’re going to maintain your thigh tickler, what better way to do it than with the tools designed by men who love their beards?This straight razor is reasonably priced, comes with either a light or dark olive wood handle, and is packaged in a nice gift box. It also comes with 5 Gillette shaving blades. These blades are lighter and more flexible than your standard hardware store blades. Also – you have to (carefully) split them in half prior to inserting them into the handle. This can be easily done by gently folding the blade in half within its wrapping paper, opening the lock, fitting it in place, and voila! You are in business.Is this is your first straight razor, there are plenty of how-to videos out there. I’d advise you to watch a few of these on how to shave with a straight razor. When done correctly, you may find yourself addicted to the art and never go back to regular disposable razors. It takes some time and practice. It took me two weeks to get the hang of it. I will say, however, that if you ever have the opportunity to go to a full service barbershop and a straight razor shave is available, it's a wonderful thing to treat yourself to!This is more than a starter blade; it’s much better quality that almost all of the other entry level blades out there. It’s user-friendly, has a night weight, and the wood handle helps keep the blade steady and from slipping out of your hand. This is a great place to start on your adventure on the almost-lost art of traditional shaving.

This is a very good quality Straight edge barber razor, the grip and the wood feel, it has this premium feeling in hand and has a good weight to it, but when it comes to the blades installing them could hurt you, because it's missing a very simple thing, a raised 2 small bumps to stop the blades from sliding out when closing the razer back on the blades, so they keep slipping back out and you try to push it back with you finger and it cuts you, so no very good design, also the metal clip that hold the 2 razer sides that holds the blades is very tight i can barely close it, it's very hard to shut some time.Overall, good quality razer and I like that it comes with a set of blades, but has some design flaws other than that it's a very high quality straight edge razor.

I decided to try a straight razor for shaving. After years of trying, and using so many different shavers, to include electric, I thought, is there a better way? What have I not tried? Then, I was watching a movie, and a scene came up with a man getting a shave with a straight razor. That was it! I never tried a straight razor before. So I saw this and ordered it. I will be honest. My first time, I was very very apprehensive and nervous. But like all things, you have to start somewhere, and this was it. I would like to report that is does take some getting used to, but the results are amazing. I am getting better each time, but the result are always the same. You get the absolute closest shave with this razor. It is amazing. There is a technic, and you have to get it down right, or you will be rewarded with a knick. There are tons of videos and tutorials on a certain internet site. Just watch a couple. It is not hard. But the close and clean shave is well worth it. This razor has a nice weight and balance to it. The wooden handle is nice, and the blade folds away into it for storage and to protect the blade. Blade change is also easy. I am convinced that this is the best way to shave. This razor is a great value for the price, and is terrific for beginners. It get 5 stars.
