Just buy it! It's so much better than the alternative.
Works great. Combine this with a zip multi tool and your cuts will be spot on. Just mark the general area of the outlet on the floor or ceiling so you know the rough location. The magnets are very strong and make location through thick materials very easy. Well worth the price.

So cool! I do a lot of handyman work for ...
So cool! I do a lot of handyman work for friends and family. I have built 2 homes from the ground up, finished several basements, bathroom re-models and so on. This is a simple and easy to use product. I have used many other methods; measure which takes time and needs practice to get it right the fist cut. Marker or lipstick to mark the back of drywall, here you need to mark up your boxes, set the drywall up, take it down and then cut it and even then you are off because it does not sit flush. This product is as billed; set the one portion in the electrical box, outlet, light whatever, set the drywall into place, set the other portion over the area of the first portion and they magnetically link. While the two portion are linked, you can trace the outline you need to cut and the cut is exact, the drywall stays in place to be hung and after you can take out the portion in the box. Slick, easy to use, saves time and is a great little tool to keep around whether you work with drywall often or just ever so often. Great!

Works great
While it isn't perfect it's a heck of a lot better than my previous method of measuring, punching a hole with a saw, finding an edge and then going around the perimeter. With this product I can easily get within 1/8" of the edges of the box. It's only not perfect in the sense that sometimes when I went through right on the line I ended up hitting the edge of the box and had to move outward slightly. I'd rather it be off by being smaller than being too large though. I wish I had thought of looking for a product like this sooner, it's totally worth the money with the time and hassle saved... just don't forget to put the piece in the box, I haven't done that... yet. I just made sure that the two pieces were always in a box, as soon as it came out of one it when straight into the next box needed so I didn't realize it was sitting on a ledge somewhere.

Great Tool!
This same review appears for the Blind Mark product by the same company. I bought both tools to be able to do round and octagonal boxes as well as rectangular. This review is NOT the result of a supplied product for review purposes ... I bought it outright after reading reviews and watching videos. I work on a team building/repairing/refurbishing housing so we see Sheetrock work pretty frequently but not often enough to be pros. We have struggled to not waste material miscutting for electrical boxes by the measure-cut-out-before-hanging method. This tool solves that problem plus makes the hanging go much faster. Our team has used both zip tools and hand saws to do the cutouts and both work equally well. I also bought the Blind Mark tool from the same company so I have 5 targets. One thing about these products is that if you always use them to mark the boxes and then forget to do a cutout, just keeping up with the targets will alert you to a missed box. No worries, just run the pattern over the wall until the box is found, cut it out neatly as the others and move on. No plunging in the rock to find the missed box which for us usually results in a patch job around the box. We have used these tools for empty boxes and boxes with wiring already pulled ... as long as the wires can be pushed back into the box the targets will fit. Only cons: no case like for the Blind Mark product and the package is a bear to get into with old hands. Small complaints for an otherwise good product.

Just amazing how well this works, saves time and no measuring cutting out outlets. If your installing drywall over outlets this is a must.

Provides precise box locations , speeds hanging drywall and paneling outlet cut outs
Every professionals and DIY homeowner should have a drywall and paneling cut out tool. Provides precise box locations. We used it a Masonite bead board paneling. I had some reservations because the tool only talks about drywall. The magnets are strong. We used an oscillating tool with a curved blade. Excellent results. If it saves you from one mistake it’s paid for it self.

Flawed concept
There is a major problem with the concept of this product--it requires an empty box. This isn't practical, since a "rough in" inspection is generally required before the drywall is mounted. This means that you would need to mount the boxes, then cut the drywall with these in place, then remove the drywall, install all of the sockets/wiring, then hang the drywall. Now, if this product were to insert into a standard electrical socket, it might work, but as it is, you can't use this with a socket installed in the box...rendering it rather pointless.

I used this item for a basement renovation. It's a great product, but there are 2 issues with it that prevent me from giving it full marks. I think another buyer mentioned the first big issue is that the box template seems 1/2 inch bigger along the bottom of the electrical box if you cut out the template. I learned to cut the bottom shorter to get a perfect fit. The light template is bang-on. The second problem is you can't use this item with full outlets or jlightboxes. You have to take out the outlet of light out first before using this tool which doesn't make it as useful for jobs that have electrical already completed.

These saved me a lot of time, as I drywalled my whole basement. Simple to use to find the electrical boxes and cut out. No having to measure each time. These paid for themselves on my basement alone!
