Kachina Game

Great game with tons of replay value. One of my group's favorite. Also a super cool theme with neat artwork to boot which is miles more intersting than the generic fantasy theme of the designer's later reboot entitled Voluspa (which is also the name of a high-end candle brand too)!

Kachina is a fun game that I have played many times. But the newer game from the same game designer, Scott Caputo, is much better. Look for Voluspa. It has all the same pieces and play with newer, better art work. Plus it has 4 extra expansion pieces that can be added to the game for even more fun.Voluspa, and Kachina, are tile placing games where the "board" changes with each play of the game. It is a lot of fun with 3 to 5 people. Each tile has a number on it. The objective is to score the most points. Points are scored when you dominate a row or column. You dominate a row or column by playing the largest number tile in that row, or by playing special tiles to score the row.It's pretty easy to learn to play well. There are several different strategies that can be used. Each game is different because you draw different tiles and therefore the board gets created in a different fashion each time.

The update to this game -- Voluspa -- is one of my favorites. This version was like the initial engine .... but the idea was developed, improved and turned into Voluspa. The newer game has more tiles, more options and worthy expansions.Because I like the idea so much, I will say that this simpler, quicker version could be good for younger kids (though even the art on Voluspa is better and helps make the tiles more accessible).
