Golden Lighting Duncan 14" Flush Mount in Matte Black with a Matte Black Shade

My kitchen is utterly boring, with old cabinets and boring brown cabinets. I've been looking to replace this light over the sink for awhile but nothing looked right until I ran across this lamp. It's a nice color (seaform blue) and gives the space a little personality. I wish it had integrated LEDs so it wasn't so tall, but hey, it covers up the place on the ceiling that wasn't painted the same color as the rest of the ceiling and that's a real bonus.

The lamp is nice and it has real glass, however, the installation parts are poorly thought out. If you are a DIY and don't have spare nuts it might not be worth the headache. In the install, I found that the nut used to fasten the lamp to the junction box has a cap on it so you can not screw it to the extent required to get a flush mount against the ceiling. You have to pull everything off and adjust the jbox. This is a huge oversight, the nut should not have a back so you can have the ability to adjust as needed.

4 stars because assembly is difficult with the ring and glass on bottom when changing bulbs. Spotlight effect for our rooms (mostly these are in smaller rooms admittedly) is very minimal. Love the look and brightness is what you make it with the light bulbs you put in.

This was the perfect flush mount light for my retro kitchen. It has a nice vintage schoolhouse industrial look. It's very light and was easy to install. Gives off plenty of light with two bulbs. The glass shade has a slight teal frost so when the light is off you don't see the bulbs inside. Insanely good deal.
