MUST HAVE to PASS new CompTIA Sec+ online Exam
This study guide along with the book written by this author was the ONLY reason that I pass. I had been out of IT world for 7 years and I needed to pass Sec+ within my first 6 months for the government requirement after being hired. The exam covered areas outside of my position and I struggled to retain all of the information that I tried using other materials like online videos, books, and Questions/Answers. This study guide came highly recommended and teaches ONLY the stuff you need to know to PASS THE NEW ONLINE EXAM!Its written by a Scot's man but easily read by this American. I highly recommend this book specifically for the test questions/answers AND most of all the chapter CHEAT SHEETS! I passed, my colleagues passed and we all used this study guide and the book that goes with it. CompTIA Security+ Certification Guide

Study Hard and Pass
I warn you the writer's first language is not English as he is Scottish. Jokes aside, there are more then a few Spelling and grammatical errors in the book. But did you get a Security + book to read technically correct English or pass your Test.I was dumb founded many times as i found SEC + was wrong about industry security concepts and even IT Technology. To further exacerbate your studying A good portion of the information is about late 90s Tech. But sure enough you have to know these "Facts" as CompTIA see them.So i can tell you from experience the CompTIA answer is not always the right answer. With this book you get incredibly hard SEC + like test questions as ComTIA see it. You get the insight on how the test makers approach question crafting. So that when you see the misleading question on the test you will know how to answer the way CompTIA Security + expects you to answer.

Get this book to pass!
When I was able to answer the practice tests, it made me feel more confident when it was time to take the actual exam. The Security+ is a scary hard test and I have looked at a lot of other study material that is on the market today. The reason that I chose this authors book is because my friends and coworkers all used his material for their exams and were very satisfied. When I read the material, it was easier to read, comprehend and absorb.I had to study very hard to pass by reading his other book "CompTIA Security+ Certification Guide" and this book to see how much knowledge that i retained from the reading. This book is a MUST HAVE to pass (but YOU have to put in the effort yourself to study.)IT WORKED FOR ME! THANK YOU IAN!

Kindle version is garbage
I assume that all the great reviews this book is getting are coming from people who bought the paper version. The Kindle version was terrible. The questions are very poorly written, and do not match what is on the test. The book is riddled with errors; grammatical, contextual and factual. In some places, well over half the questions had some sort of error or misleading statement. Navigation was difficult, with no way to easily flip back and forth between questions and answers. I gave up on this one, and bought the practice test book by Mike Chapple (also on Kindle). It is way better, easy to navigate, and was the key to me passing (see my review for that book).

A must
Don't think of this book in technical terms, this is like Sec + for dummies but it breaks down terminology so you can better understand. Definitely a good guide in help you prepare for the exam, if you do the practice quizzes and mock exams at the end of each module it will definitely assist you. Some say that the chapters don't like up with the Security plus subject areas, well if you understand concepts you can stick one of the modules into a cook book and you'll be able to understand it. It's broken down so you have an easier time understanding the concepts, those who are so caught up in the grammar, this is not an english book, it's to assist you in learning and passing security plus.

Great Sec+ book. First time go Pass, buy if you want to pass also!!!
First of all, I want to say I have tried several books from other authors and online and never found them easy to grasp right away, BUT this book by Ian Neil helped me pass my security plus exam first time go. The content from beginning to end had a great sequence, the questions are very very good, makes you think analyze and focus on the right answer. It got me ready very quick and helped me on the exam day. Will be getting my certification soon thanks to this book and author Ian Neil.

This book will only deter your progress and frustrate your ambition to pass the Security+ test.
This book has a variety of question formats within it that is significantly different from all others, but it is written in such a way as to lead me to believe that a non-native English-speaking person wrote it. Vague, misleading and often contradictory to what other industry leaders teach and emphasize. Written from a British & international perspective, this book will only confuse anyone attempting to take the exam, no matter where you are residing.
