Tai Pan in CPM 3V steel
This Cold Steel dagger, Tai Pan, is the best fighting knife. Most daggers are in a very long and thin triangular shape with a needle thin tip and not too sharp edges. Yes, they are good at stabbing but that is it, they are not good at slicing. The Tai Pan has a wider profile and razor sharp double cutting edge. You can stab and slice with Tai Pan. Since a dagger is mostly used for stabbing so you want a strong and tough tip and that is where CPM 3V steel is great. The 7.5" blade is about perfect size for good balance and fast in the hand.

I'm truly amazed at how much useful and its ergonomics for all areas its easy to cross carry !!
Good fit and finish I'm passionate about the Samaria and there blade style but serious outdoors person it is a great chopper for a medium kiku! Don't regret it for not getting one there 249 at lowest at blade hq and knife works ! Great fit size and edge!! I'm not a cold steel fan as much as most but I'm saying darn she's Great so far !! For 180 down Don't regret I weighted a year and so glad I tried it for trout blowfish nothing else but a 10 in plus light blade will slice prickers and fall small trees Ron hood made the hoodlums but he passed so I no longer risk breaking the blade its a piece of art collectible and this does so well for a substitute!! I'm a mettalurgist! Typing on a smart phone and I am 6'3 with a set of speakers so excuse grammar and spelling!! Advice skip machetes and or get a Camillus carnivore ex and then get this for better light chopping as well as heavy the key balance edge retention acute sharpness and it is light it will cut what heavy slow blades can not cut !!!!

Beautifully made knife
I purchased this knife because it looked interesting on you tube. I did not buy it for any defensive use. The workmanship, quality and sharpness were remarkable. Razor sharp, one of the best made knifes I’ve seen. 10/10. The sheath is quite good, but it takes a little experimenting to learn how to remove the knife smoothly. 8/10. A sample set of one. I recommend this knife.

Not the one I wanted but still satisfied
I own alot of CS knives and I've always wanted one of their fixed blades. When I first purchased the product I expected the dlc coated version(as shown in the picture) but instead I recieved a satin finished one. I was disappointed but not angry. I'm glad it came in 3v instead of the vg-10 version. But I still wished it came in as shown in the picture. Regardless I'm still happy for what I got.It came in standard packaging covered in some form of grease(probably to protect the blade from rust). It was tucked in a cardboard surrounded by bubble wrap and the sheath came in sealed in plastic. The sheath has a pretty good retention it not too strong or too weak. The blade comes in wicked sharp and the grip is rubberized and super grippy. If your looking for a tactical short sword this one should fit the bill.

I’d still buy it again.
Like most people, you probably wont receive an absolutely perfect knife. This review is of the 12” 3v blade.Mine came with the following issues:The factory sharpening was inconsistent; the bottom of the blade was great, however, about 3in above the tang there was a noticeable burr that continued to the tip of the straight edge. The angled edge was much more dull than the rest of the knife and the angled tip came with a small deformity which needed to be reshaped. 2 hours of sharpening/shaping fixed those issues. My sheath does not hold the blade unless I buckle it in. There is no resistance, the blade falls out under its own weight. The handle is made of a much cheaper metal, hard to say what it is but if you tap the handle while holding the blade it gives a lot of vibration off, I imagine the taper on the tang is pretty extreme or possibly a stick tang, also, whatever style tang it has I doubt it runs to the bottom of the handle, from what I can tell its prob half of the handle. The rubber grip, while comfortable came slippery out of the box. I washed it with a little degreasing soap and it helped (prob grease from the factory). At the end of the day you’re getting 12” of 3V steel. If you receive one with a good grind and small deformities it’s worth a little time to get the edge that the fine grain steel would take. I’d still buy it again.
