KPH7 Lightweight Portable Headphone, Black

Surprisingly excellent, for what I spent. Maxell disappointed me with just a few months of use, and after the second breakage I began looking for a replacement brand. I use this Koss headset with a portable DVD player, a PSP, a laptop and especially my phone. I used to travel alot, and something like this was essential - and is still nearly indispensable to this day.. I bought a backup set because the price was good, but my original set has still been going strong for a couple of years now. Earbuds don't work great for longer spans of use, and the weight of "high quality" headsets becomes annoying, so this is where I am the least uncomfortable.. 3-4ft of cord is a good (general) length for any device in your hands, because longer cords tend to become tangled, or "hang" you at perfectly inopportune moments.. Socket tension is perfect - not so loose that it falls out, and not so secure that it requires both hands to manipulate. Sound quality is adequate - if a higher quality is required, those expensive earmuff types usually get chosen.. I prefer to be aware of "outside" noises, and this Koss design allows just enough of that to be safe and remain functional. This headset doesn't have any difficulty staying in place (on your head), where other brands have issues with slipping off, whenever you look down.. Recommendation: Yes. If you find yourself within my own personal range of requirements, these things are great.

These were bought for replacement headphones for an assisted listening system in a church. We bought two of these and two low price Sony headsets which were three times the cost and put all four in service. I gave these 5-stars because at around $5.00 per headset they work just fine for what they are intended and could be affordably replaced if they get dirty or damaged. They do not sound bad but are not audiophile quality by any means. They work fine for the assisted listening receivers. The ear cushions are foam so you cannot clean them and if multiple people are using them you need to keep an eye on them and replace when needed. We hand out the two Sony's (which can be wiped down) first then these so with the minimal usage, they should last a very long time making them a good long term investment and at the low cost we are not going to feel bad if we have to replace one.

I use these as PC headphones. For podcasts and a little bit of music listening, these are plenty good enough. For the price, you can easily buy several pairs and have backups. The sound quality is okay, but there isn't much bass response which is expected at this price point. I have a large head and these fit snug, but you can bend the plastic headband a bit and that works to get comfortable. The cord length is short, but good for a phone or sitting close to a laptop. It is a bit difficult to see which headphone is Left and Right, but there is an L and R if you look really closely. Be aware, there is no mic or volume button controls.

Our teenage son always seems to somehow 'confiscate' and then proceed to break and/or lose every set of earbud-type earphones in our house, including mine that came with my iPod. So, he has now been relegated to only owning the least expensive kind I can find for him (even if that means pink ones, lol). So, after perusing Amazon, I bought these headphones for him because 1) they were so inexpensive, 2) the reviews were pretty good, and 3) did I mention they were so inexpensive? Well, when they arrived, I opened them up to check them out and make sure they worked and such. I was impressed and I really liked them. But when I gave them to my son, I quickly learned that, according to my son, over-the-head type "headphones" (as opposed to the in-ear or ear bud type) are so "80's" and "uncool looking". Was I angry at him for basically calling me "old and uncool" for liking these headphones? No way!! This was my perfect solution to keep him from "borrowing" and then losing/breaking MY headphones. Besides, I never really liked the ones that go into the ears anyhow. So now these are mine! For what it's worth, I feel neither "old" nor "uncool" while wearing them. I promise!! *They fit great, they are snug but not TOO snug. If I was into jogging and/or some other type of strenuous exercise, I don't think I would have any trouble keeping them in place on my ears/head (I swim for exercise so obviously I can't wear them for that, lol). *The quality of sound is fantastic to me - although I'm not really an "audio snob". *They are extremely adjustable on both sides although I happen to use them on the smallest setting without needing to make them any bigger. *They are lightweight, as stated in the description, but not in a 'flimsy' kind of way. I don't think they are any more or less breakable than any other kind of similar headphones (yes, I did go through many sets of headphones like these during the 1980's). Since I don't expect to be rough with them at all, I am hoping they last me quite awhile. If not, and they do somehow break, at least I wouldn't feel *too* bad only being out a few dollars. I would ABSOLUTELY order these again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for inexpensive, but nice, headphones. They are perfect for this "uncool" mom. :-) ***UPDATE*** June, 2015: Well it's been nearly two years and I've gone through about three pairs of these headphones (and I'm going to order a few more after I write this - now that they have pretty color options). Not one pair has broken yet, they just seem to get lost somehow (in our house, we joke that when things go missing it's because unicorns come and eat them). I'm glad they have color options now and I would still absolutely recommend these inexpensive, and nice, headphones.

A great value, even if the ear covers never stay on

You can't beat the price. Good sound, great value. Be aware it does not come with a case and the attached connecting cord is generously long. Cheaply made, one of the pads keeps falling off, but for $5.00 for basic headphones you can't beat it. Definitely not for audiophiles.

I like these very much. I've seen them for sale for radio use and I wanted a small pair of on-ear headphones for ham radio cw use. They are great, light, decent-sound at the necessary 400 - 800 Hz that most morse code is done at, and robust so they are unlikely to break if chucked into a rucksack for portable operating. And at less than £10 you can't question the value for money. Only down-side is that that you have to drive them quite hard compared to ear-buds and another thing to bear in mind is that they don't isolate much, so you can still hear things going on around you. That's neither positive nor negative, just bear in mind that in loud ambient noise you won't hear the head-phones. Highly recommended for cw.
