Larsen Soloist 4/4 Cello A String Medium Alloy-Steel
Very shortly:absolutely perfect, as usually. If add more comments, I can say: some people are not always happy with Larsen strings ( I was reading their comments on Forum sites) and they are sharing their negative opinion with other, not being, maybe, able to understand this - LARSEN STRINGS ARE DEVELOPED FOR SOLOISTS!!!!! However Larsen strings can be good for playing in orchestra too, but their brilliant and extremely beautiful sound is not always blending to string section sound and becomes noticeable(although very good player can avoid it), especially if use perfect instrument, for example old Italian cello.I have to note, that Larsen strings are very long lasting. I use them since A string was just introduced and I was able to use any of Larsen strings (A,D,G,C) for very many years. For example, my first broken C string was serving me for 12 years and I had same thing with G string.Unfortunately, I can not say any thing good about new kind of Larsen strings, such as Wirecore G,C and G-soloist edition. They are not consistent and (even more) Wirecore G and C have horrible sound, although are ve-e-e-e-ry loud. Almost impossible to play soft. So, I do recommend everyone to use Soloist Edition A and D Larsen strings, also Soloist G ( but be prepare to have huge difference in tone and volume, plus have patience to wait for about a month, until it warms up/

Worth the price if you have the chops to play well
I'm leaving this comment for the A string as well as the D string I purchased. These things are incredible. Some people say they don't need time to set in. Those people are incorrect. When First putting this on they will have a very soft, muted tone to them. I was actually worried that I hadn't gotten my money's worth. Then about a week later I played a warm up scale and it was like I was playing on an entirely different instrument. The tone becomes very bright and clear while still allowing enough warmth to sing. These are excellent strings, but the player must know how to play well in order for them to truly shine. If you are a beginner or are a less skilled intermediate player, I'd suggest you save your money until you are a more experienced intermediate player or an advanced player

Larsen Strings
I bought these along with the Larsen Magnacore G and C strings. In my opinion the Magnacore strings are actually worth the fortune they cost - an incredibly warm sound, very quick response, and they have the seemingly unique quality of being able initiate a sound at pianissimo. This allows some things that were not possible before: for example, playing the pedal tones of Bach 1st Suite piano or pianissimo. As I played I thought this must have been a possibility with original gut strings and lower bridge of a Baroque instrument, as it sounds so correct to me. The Larsen A and D are a very good match for the Magnacores, and it makes it much easier to play and keep the same sound quality when doing a lot of string crossings. The feel is a little more rubbery than I am accustomed to, but it is worth making the adaptation.

Best A string for viola & cello
Most viola and cello professional musicians use the Larsen A string for the viola and the cello. Simply there is no better A string for these instruments.

Nice!
I love playing my cello, but for some reason the string that came with it was not very high quality and "squaked" a lot. the Larsen string is durable, but, more importantly, has a wonderful, clear tone. in spite of its price, I would recommend getting it.

Can't go wrong with (higher end) Larsen strings!!
Can't really go wrong with Larsen strings. I had a helicore break (which I hated anyway), and I replaced with this Larsen which I have great experience with. SUCH a difference! Nice and warm, responsive, and full even from the start. There was absolutely no tinny, screechy breaking-in with this string! Overall, happy with the purchase (as I always am with Larsen)!A&D -- Larsen Soloist Ed., G&C -- Larsen Magnacore

CELLO A STRING
Really upgrades the sound of the cello to make it more wholesome. However, these strings are very expensive which is the down side. But they do last for a while which makes it worth it to buy these strings.
