Make sure if you buy this you order extra oil for the pump
I find it beyond stupid for this manufacture to sell a vacuum pump while providing the directions manual (which is nice) but within directions it says to fill the oil tank with the oil provided & run it for a set period of time, dispose of that oil and refill the vacuum pump. The problem is they provide you with only enough oil to fill the vacuum pump for the first time but do not provide you enough oil to refill it after you have run& flushed the vacuum pump as the direct you to do. How many people do you know would be able to go to locate a store locally and buy the proper vacuum oil?? Worth noting even in the directions in the back page it tells you to buy a brand called JB industries black gold vacuum oil and it says you can find it in your local store (that’s funny) or order it from Amazon (that’s more likely the fact) but either case why would you provide enough oil to the consumer to get the machine up and running to be flushed out as directed but not enough additional oil so you certainly could use it for your intended purpose which was the reason why you purchased this thing through Amazon. I do think it’s up to Amazon to force this company to provide enough vacuum pump oil so you can fill it up, run it and flush it and fill it back up according to the directions and then get straight to work on the project for what you bought the item for and used your hard earned money to purchase it! Otherwise it’s pretty darn stupid to buy this and then find out you can’t use it right away !

Lets you use an R-12 pump to evacuate an R-134 system
This is the adapter you need to convert a vacuum pump with an R-12 fitting to a hose with an R-134 fitting. If you have an old R-12 pump, and need to evacuate an air conditioning system that uses R-134, this is the adapter you need. Nothing fancy, but it screwed right on, and has a gasket inside to help it better seal to the pump.

Wow! Price Jumped 2.5X Since Jan 2017
The product is great, durable built, fits well, and works as expected. But OMG, I bought it for $4 in Jan 2017, and in Aug 2022, it's $10+. Unbelievable! I guess it's too pricey now, but you have to buy it if it's the only option.

Absolutely necessary if you have a pump that's intended only for commercial/residential applications
I bought a high-end vacuum pump that, as it turns out, is used primarily for commercial/home air conditioning systems. So, the connections would not connect to the automotive r134a hose. I called the manufacturer of the pump and they, oddly, had no solutions. I was about to return the pump because the listing said it would with all ac applications, then I found this adapter and now the pump is perfect for automotive and other applications. This pump, along with a micron gauge, will allow you to service your car/truck and so much more.

another win for FJC
I've had good luck with all of the FJC products I've purchased. They're of very good quality for the price. This adapter is no exception. Unlike some 1/4" female to 1/2" ACME internal taper male adapters I have, this one has a flat mating surface with o-ring inside, so you don't need to heavily torque it down to ensure a proper seal. It's a nice touch that adds to the general perception that this adapter was designed for quality. Of course, you still need it tight enough that the pump won't vibrate it loose. It doesn't come with a cap, which would have been most welcome. It does come in a reusable clamshell case, though, so it'll stay clean if you decide not to make it a permanent fixture on your pump. If you're looking for good bang for your buck, you can't go wrong with FJC.

Buy this for your vacuum pump !!!
Various reviews about my new vacuum pump mentioned this adapter, but I wanted to have the pump, gauges, and hoses in hand before I decided to buy it. If you read this, then you'll know that you will not have to do it that way. If reviews show that your pump fitting is 1/4 inch, then you WILL certainly need this adapter. (It should be included with every pump that requires it.) I wasted a lot of time searching various stores for this fitting and never found one. BTW, my evacuation, conversion to 134a, and recharge went beautifully. My car is an '89 Cougar, and in the past my A/C work has cost me $300 to $400 each time I had it done. Thanks to Youtube vids, and the new sealers in the available refrigerants, my system is blowin' cold again. ("Brrrr") Makes this desert I live in a little less hellish. I'll do my best to update this review, because I know how wrong these DIY jobs can go. The compressor might blow, etc., but even then it will be cheaper to fix myself - and I'll learn a lot in the process.

Just what I needed to connect a 12 oz. R134A refill can tap with 1/4 SAE threads, and no valve core, to a yellow charge hose with 1/2 ACME threads and a valve core. Connects perfectly and depresses the hose valve core as required.
