This book is short, easy to read, and is extremely helpful Married or not!
I can't stress enough how great this book is. It is not bloated with too many words, and is very easy to read. I've read it just once but plan to read it over and over 4 or 5 times. It is pretty straight to the point, except I really like that Marcus and Ashley shared their own struggles in the book, and how they rationalized and came to positive results. I can't thank them enough for writing this book and putting their own lives out there, their own struggles, and how they prevailed through the hard times. The book encourages logic thinking, and with practice I believe these can change current patterns of destruction into positive new patterns. After reading this just once, I can say "Yes that's me" and "ohhh that's bad". I can see why I sometimes get negative reactions when saying something one way, when my heart and mind are actually trying to say something else! I've heard of the same things in the book elsewhere, I just really like that it is very well organized, very easy to follow and understand, has exercises to do with you partner, and get's right to the point. I think to get the full benefit it should be read several times. (It's really not that long and is straight to the point). I'm very happy I purchased this book for myself and partner. I understand so much more now, and I feel like this book should be given out in High School to promote positive communication in relationships. I do believe that feeling hurt, upset, angry, or unheard from someone you KNOW that loves you are all signs of communication issues. You CAN always do better! There is no such thing as a mistake, just a learning experience!

Fantastic read for any couple
This book is amazing. It is simple and to the point and offers key steps and questions to help you and your spouse get on the communication page together. I have a degree in psychology, so I know how in depth communication skills can go, but they made it easy for anyone to understand and implement. My husband has A.D.D. yet he was able to stay focused and listen to the audible book. Together we listened to the chapters each night, answered the questions, talked about our answers, then implemented the steps. It was a bit challenging at first, perhaps even awkward, but we soon were able to really hear each other and communicate with an open mind. We have been married for 16 years and have 5 children, but this book would be great for any couple, at any stage in their marriage. Just don't give up, maintain consistency and you will reach your goals.

Great tool
This book was easy to understand, straight to the point, and helpful. Highly recommended. Lots of useful information in a smaller book. Very satisfying. Can't wait for my husband to read so we can discuss and utilize the material.

AWESOME advice to save a relationship, not just a marriage .
The authors hit the main topics spot on. This is excellent, to the point, advice on saving and improving a relationship, not just a marriage. Quick and easy reading. My spouse and I have been loudly disagreeing lately on ridiculous small issues which stem from larger issues. This book is a WONDERFUL reference to improving your relationship peacefully, and thus lead to shear happiness. I was considering counseling, when I thought, "Hey, we can do this ourselves." Now to further implement and improve our happiness in life. After all, we all just want to be happy

Good read but bad spacing.
The book seems helpful so far but I’m only on page 35 and have found multiple spots where there are no spaces between words and some have double spaces.

Straight forward & to the point
This is a no BS communication strategy guideline. It is straightforward and to the point, and seems very realistic to apply in most situations. It is one of the more real feeling self-help books I’ve read. I am 31 years old and newly married, and think this book will help me have more effective communication with my significant other. Worth the purchase

Good short read
I enjoyed this book. I agree with what others said, it does pull a lot from other books- summarizes, and adds a few new ideas. So you may or may not need something much deeper; I think it’s helpful for the veteran couple or newlyweds. Myself, I’m 34 with three kids, my husband and I have been together 16 years and sometimes we just get into a slump of silly fights that can last off and on for months.. just feeling disconnected, etc. I read and highlighted each chapter and he read those highlights. It helped jumpstart us both trying to do better in areas that needed work.
