Great "American Made" product that works perfect as indtended!
Decided to pass on all the off-brand types made overseas that were much cheaper after talking to a local HVAC expert who told me, most off-brands made overseas are poorly made and won't last more than a few years at best. So I purchased a genuine Protech/Rheem, "USA Made" product whereas the old one lasted 20+ years. The new replacement looked identical and worked perfect when installed.

Fit perfectly!
Let me start by saying I'm not mechanically inclined, but this was a very easy change out. I called all around locally and the cheapest I could find this or a similar part was around $70, so spending $10 more than the $22 list price for expedited delivery was fine with me. I googled how to remove/install the replacement part and there was a video showing how easy it was so I decided to do it myself and save a few hundred dollars. The video showed how fragile the part is, so I was very happy to see it arrive very well protected on all sides with soft foam in a small cardboard box. I simply plugged in the new wire, mounted the ignitor in place, turned the power and gas back on and it lit up right away! If there was anything to even remotely wish was different, it's that I couldn't get it sooner. When a furnace goes out in the winter, you really want it right away. Luckily it was fairly mild the few days I had to wait for the part, and really it wasn't that long at all. I believe I ordered the part on a Thursday Feb 27th and it was delivered by the following Tuesday March 4th. Amazon you should carry this item so it qualifies for Prime! No real complaints though, I'm very satisfied with the part and it's delivery. Thank you!

Works. Given time to break-in + plug change.
My old hot surface igniter (HSI) developed a crack in the element (common condition). This HSI runs well, and starts my furnace. Not without a hitch, though.I think it may require some time to 'break-in'. The HSI took more power to start when it was new, than after about a month of use. At first, my furnace controller would assume the HSI to be on, would blow gas, and not start. Lucky, furnaces are filled with safety devices to prevent gas leaks. However, when installing, make sure that your furnace doesn't blow too much gas without igniting. If you run into this problem, also ensure that your combustion fan runs. This will ventilate the N gas out of your system.Another thing: I had to use the plug off of my old (broken) unit in order to install. The HSI's were almost identical, besides the plug. This was a pain in the rear, but not a fault of the product.Overall, I was happy to save big time replacing the igniter myself instead of calling a furnace technician!

Quick and easy replacement that saved me hundreds!
I'm a do it yourself-er within reason. When my furnace was not longer heating up, I investigated. I noticed the gas wasn't lighting like it should, and when I wiggled the igniter I saw it spark. I shut it all down, turned off the breaker and removed the igniter. There was a hairline break that was preventing it from lighting. After some investigation I found this one on Amazon and it looked just like the one I removed, even if it didn't have the same model number. It took me all of 5 minutes to install it and be back in working order. We were without heat for only 2 nights with next day shipping. I could have had someone come out and replace it, but I know I wouldn't do that for less than a $100, so why would I expect someone else to? I saved money by doing it myself, and now I know what to expect when it goes out again in the future!
