Even small birds can enjoy it.
I got this for my parakeet, and you can see I kind spoil the little guy. That said, he really finds it easy to get around outside his cage with this rope. He can grip it with his beak or feet and be up and out in a quick moment. The bell on the end is one of his favorite reflection toys, and he plays with the metal clapper every day.Since parakeets don't destroy things like the larger parrots, I can't comment on how durable it is. But is is quite long and can be arranged in many different ways.

Strong and flexible
We were in dire need of a new rope for our Senegal parrot, and this one fits the bill. It's a great length, giving him plenty of space to wander through his bigger cage. He loves the bell on the end, and we love the enrichment for him. Definitely a feathered friend win!

Not wide enough for African Grey
The overall quality of this rope perch is great, but it does not have a wide enough girth for an African Grey to use as a perch. I would recommend it for smaller birds, however.

Bird safe materials?????
I was worried about the loose strings because birds get caught in them & flap themselves literally to death trying to get loose. But the strings were shorter than pictured. That doesn't make it ok, but my bird seems to do ok when the loose string ends are short. She doesn't swallow the fibers like some birds do either, but that's always a concern to keep in mind. There was no plastic cap over the loose strings as shown in one of the product pics, so I couldn't just trim off the strings up to the edge of the plastic cap like I'd hoped. I used a magnet to test the bell which did NOT look like stainless steal @ all & it does to me as being SS in any stretch of the imagination. The bell came running from afar toward the magnet like a duckling to it's mom, is super thin & dyed or painted yellow. It's so thin it makes me think it's aluminum, but IDK what it is. The hook on top of the bungee also came running to the magnet & does not seem to be SS to me either. Both were super lightweight even for their size too. But I can change the bell & hook out for actual SS ones. But I can't change the wire inside the cotton rope, so I tried to see if the magnet would attach to the metal wire sticking out the top of the rope. It did, however not as strongly as the bell & hook did. So either the wire is a low grade SS (not food grade), or it's a wire w/ some other metal that has a nickle or thin SS plating over it. Nickle is bird safe, but how do I know what this metal is? It doesn't seem that the only metal used to make this product was SS as it claims it is.Birds r very sensitive to most metals & it's deadly to them. I've had my bird over 20 yrs & she's only middle aged now & poisoning is not when or how her life should end. Please be careful of these things when buying bird stuff & DON'T just believe what an ad claims. If I could test this beyond just magnets to get a definitive metal identification, I would. Unfortunately magnets are my only course of action here to figure this out, so I can in no way say what the metals are in this product. I can say it looks highly suspicious that there seems to be more than 1 type of metal used for the bell, hook, & covered wire & the mystery metal(s) may not be SS. I'm very disappointed. This ad said bird safe & SS metal. People assume that means only SS & presumably food grade SS. We have to read ad descriptions more for what is not said. This ad did not say only SS or food grade SS or 100% SS, or which parts were bird safe. Entirely bird safe is questionable.UPDATEI haven't been able to find a 100% SS metal bird bungee rope, so out of desperation I've decided to keep this one. A bungee is my bird's very most loved possession & she'd be unhappy w/o one after having one for a decade! She misses having it just long enough for me to wash it for her! So I'm changing the clip hook & bell on this new one w/ a SS bird safe hook from one of her old toys. I'll also replace the bell on the bottom of the bungee w/ one of her old toys. Since the rope's internal wire was only very weakly magnetic, it might be low grade SS or SS coated. I'll know more if it starts to rust w/ washes. SS won't rust & even nickle coated iron will start to rust in time. But since it's covered well inside the cotton rope, my bird won't be chewing on that part & if I see any sign of rust starting it'll get thrown out immediately. My bird isn't an Amazon & doesn't pull the rope off the metal, so I think I can make this bungee safe for her. Other people's birds may be more destructive & expose0 the wire. So the fact that the magnetic attraction was weak gives me some hope this internal wire might @ least be some sort of lower grade SS even if I have to change the bell & hanging clip & hide the wire connection by tying bird raffia straw around it. There needs to be a company that makes & sells 100% food safe SS wired & SS accessorized bungees for birds that's easy to find & unquestionably for real. I haven't found one yet. Good luck to all you bird lovers out there & please keep your birds safe.
