Adds convenience, many BatteryMINDers now come with them
Firstly, a lot of the BatteryMINDer models come with one of these (which I didn't know as I bought them both at the same time) and then since I took so long to install the darn thing, I was stuck with two (2) of these. So, if you're buying a new BatteryMINDer maintainer, make sure you're not already getting one of theseI bought this for one of my vehicles I don't drive very often that is parked outside. Rather than raising the hood in rain and snow and hooking up some other kind of charging apparatus, I can keep this permanently mounted in the car, and then it can reach my BatteryMINDer in the garage via extension cables (also purchased here.) I snaked the weatherized plug portion through a gap by the driver's headlight, so the car stays locked, hood down, while I'm charging. Then when I need to go, I just disconnect at the car, put the cap on the end, tuck it by the headlight, and drive away. The fuse prevents shorts, spikes, or shenanigans. You can also buy alternate ends that give you access to a lighter socket or USB charger, all of which you could access without opening the car, handy for camping or tailgating. So I deducted one star because of the installation options. The positive ring is just large enough, for my *side post* battery, so it worked for my application, but the negative lead is smaller necessitating that you connect it to an alternate ground, which may have been BatteryMINDer's intent. Luckily a common ground was close so I didn't have to separate the cables to an extreme extent to reach the positive battery and negative chassis ground. However, if you have a conventional top post battery, you'll have to monkey around with the retaining bolt on the terminals or use some other kind of lead to get to the positive and negative, as the rings are too small for a conventional top post. Obviously these don't have to be giant as they are used for low amperage chargers, its just that I would have to devise a way to connect this to my other cars (that are top post.)

Excellent Product
I purchased this as an extra connector to use with a new Optima charger (Optima doesn't sell extra ring connectors). The SAE connect/disconnect plug is more or less universal, though there are other manufacturers of chargers (including CTEK) using proprietary connections. The amp rating of the built-in fuse is suitable for the output of the charger. In the illustration, the rings seem quite large, perhaps sized for installing directly on the top posts of the battery. They aren't... like the ones supplied with the Optima charger, they fit the bolts securing the battery cable terminals. There are some vehicle battery installations for which the clamp style connections are difficult to place, sometimes the battery itself isn't easily accessible. And for cars which typically drain batteries quickly while left garaged for a few days, this type of connector is really convenient for quick connection and disconnection. During installation, just take all the usual precautions when working with batteries and cables.

For use with BatteryMINDer products ONLY
The listing doesn't say what the package says: for use with BatteryMINDer products only. I bought it as a generic plug for use with one BatteryMINDer and one other brand. I wrote to support who answered quickly. They said due to potential reverse polarity and potentially overloading the fuse it is for their products only. I don't know what the issue is as long as you're conscientious about hooking it up, which for me was to hook the red to the + and the black to the - which is pretty much what you'd figure you'd do. It works fine for their battery conditioner as well as the other brand I have.

POLARITY NOTE
Note: This product's polarity is designed for the ring contacts to be connected to the power source, not the load. I bought this to use with an inverter that has small ring contacts. Since the polarity was backwards, I blew the fuse in this wire immediately. So, if you're going to use this with the ring contacts hooked up to the load, reverse the polarity off the bat.

Exceptionally pleased overall!
Use this now after battery was going dead from infrequent car use. Very pleased! Have charger attached with the ring accessory pigtail which is anchored to the battery and inconspicuously comes out the front grill so I don't need to open the hood to connect. Great items!!
