We create at least 14 new designs each year which effortlessly blend the latest colours of the season with our traditional Bown British bathrobe. Bown of London bathrobes are made from the highest quality Egyptian Cotton, renowned for being one of the finest, softest, and strongest cottons in the world. GSM is a technical term refering to the number of grams in weight of cotton thread per square metre of fabric. Any cotton dressing gowns to be warm and absorbent should have a minimium weight of 280gsm to 350gsm per square metre. Our gowns are 380 gsm, our blue label are 400 gsm, and our top of the range gold models are 450 gsm. As a rule of thumb the higher the GSM figure, the higher the quality of the product.The term 'Velour' is the smooth glossy finish achieved by shaving the surface of a piece of towelling fabric. Bown of London Velour gowns have a towelling loop finish on the underside of the garment for warmth and absorbency, whilst the outer surface of the garment you see and feel has been shaved removing the top of the towelling loops, to produce a high quality glossy premium finish that our clients love. The quality difference between Bown robes and others on the market, are the materials used. Whilst Bown uses 100% Egyptian cotton velour, many other robes and gowns are made with polyester. Polyester fleece garments are unable to breathe in the same way that natural cotton fibre does. Moisture tends to get trapped by the polyester fleece next to your skin & polyester fleece garment wearers often start to feel damp and sweaty. Unless the garment is regularly washed it starts to smell because the moisture & odour is retained inside the fabric. In our opinion nothing matches the quality and performance of 100% natural Egyptian cotton fibres as used in Bown of London bathrobes, which provide our customers with years of faithful service.
