Good Stuff
I am a beginning Arabic student. At first, I had a hard time using this dictionary. Finding a specific entry was a time-consuming and tedious experience. But, as I developed a better understanding of the Arabic root system and the tools and charts provided in the book, it became much easier.I love this book and I've been using it almost every day!

I repurchased this excellent resource after an initial difficulty opening it. The depth and breadth of helpful information, in an inviting and coherent layout makes this dictionary a remarkable resource for the Arabic language learner. Highly recommended.

Outstanding help
This is a very practical dictionary of Modern Standard Arabic. It contains about 17,000 of the most common words and phrases, together with pronunciation and examples of usage. I find that I refer to it more than I do to the other six or seven Arabic-English or Arabic-French dictionaries of a comparable or larger size that I own.

An important step in a good direction
This is a very unique Arabic-English dictionary because it is really user-friendly and offers a wealth of grammatical, geographical, and cultural notes. Arabic language has a very rich tradition of lexicons and grammars published over the centuries, but most of them are probably very difficult to use and of historical rather than practical value for beginning and intermediate students of Arabic. To the best of my knowledge, there is still no user-friendly dictionary of Arabic (Arabic-English) for beginning and intermediate students of Arabic that would be composed according to the best lexicographic standards of modern linguistics, a type of "usage dictionary". This dictionary is a step toward a good direction. The author should be congratulated for this important work.It seems that this dictionary was published by the author himself (rather than an established publisher) and it is printed according to a demand on Amazon. My copy was printed on September 8, 2017. The author seems to be very competent in his knowledge of Arabic. But a very good lexicographic work of this kind will require, sooner or later, that some scholars review it and give some critical comments, indicate how to improve it or what should be corrected. There is an indication in the preface that the dictionary was proof-read by someone, so perhaps to some extent, this need has been addressed. This dictionary was published four years ago. The author probably can introduce changes and corrections easily because, as I noted, the dictionary is published when an order is placed on Amazon. For this reason, I am disappointed by some errors and mistakes that I found while using this dictionary. For example, “which no not have roots” on page iv (probably for “which do not have roots”). Four years after the appearance of this book for sale, such typos should have been eliminated in this kind of publication that is printed on demand. While the author gives a transcription to entry words and many fixed expressions, he does not give any transcription for many longer illustrations and sample sentences. Why not? This is to be a “user-friendly” dictionary. Less advanced students of Arabic would profit much more if there were transcriptions for all the illustrations. This would add some pages to the volume and slightly increase the price, but the dictionary would be markedly more useful in terms of user-friendliness.It would be nice if the author were able to mark somehow the core vocabulary, the first 1000 or 1500 most important and most used words and significantly expand their entries by adding more useful sample sentences (with transcriptions, please!). In my opinion, this kind of expansion would turn this great dictionary into a masterful lexicographic achievement and a truly user’s dictionary for beginning and intermediate students of Arabic, something comparable in quality to the existing excellent dictionaries of this kind for students of English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and many other languages (but not yet for Arabic). Needless to say, I recommend this dictionary to students of Arabic, but I expect the author to spend some more time with this dictionary to eliminate as many typos and errors as possible.

Awesome!
This book is excellent. I highly recommend it to anyone studying Arabic at the beginning or intermediate level. Includes lots of pictures and transliteration (with vowels :-) ) of all the Arabic text. A true bargain at this price and a must have for the Arabic learner.
