Gorgeous, thorough, inspiring and easy to follow.
Another beautiful and thorough book by the talented Shockeys! Much to my surprise on my first try, I made some amazing wild ciders with neighborhood blossoms after taking their online class this spring. At the first sip, I knew I had to learn more. I ordered their book immediately and have been so looking forward to getting it. I've wanted to make cider for a long time but have not felt the confidence that I could do it safely until I tried their online Fermentation School. Now I have so much more to try including different fruit and commercial yeast. Cidermaking is going to be a rewarding activity to take on this fall with our delicious local apples and since we're all still staying home, the timing is just perfect. Right now, I'm relishing every gorgeous page.

Cidermaker's exploration Bible
I had read other books on fermentation that had made passing me tion to hard ciders.. This book is specifically designed for the explorer that wants to delve into the process of turning juices and ciders into fermented drinkable bliss!!

Good book to have in your collection of…
Cider books. Lots of information about every aspect of Cider making, better book than most of what you find here at Amazon.Information about apples, yeast, fermentation …even adding other things to the cider. Most Cider books leave off anything much past basic cider, this book has enough detail to give you an idea of whether or not you want to try things like mixing honey or other flavorings in with your apples. I'd never heard/thought of some of this stuff. They even go into how to judge your apple's ripeness with iodine, I think I've seen that before in a couple of books (I think it goes something like put a drop of iodine on a cut apple, if it turns black, it's not ready, if it doesn't…you're ready to go).A worthy addition to any collection of Cider books, has value even if you just want apples and don't care about cider.

Great advice!
I received a free ARC electronic copy of this How-To from Netgalley, Kirsten K. Shockey, and EBookDigital. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me. I have read this work of my own volition, and this review reflects my personal, honest opinion of The Big Book of Cidermaking. This Self-Help book is very complete, giving us all the necessary steps to preparing, aging, and storing cider of all sorts. Shockey includes methods of naturally flavoring ciders with companion fruits, making vinegar and alcoholic ciders, Also included are recommendations for on-site computer aids, and sources for the necessary tools required for successfully producing cider of all sorts.
