Q: How long does this device remain on for? Would I be able to time myself performing a task and pausing the device, returning the next day?

It is battery driven and stays "on" all the time but it is a timer i.e. it times down from a time (in hours and minutes) level that you preset. You could set it for a long period and pause it overnight and then continue counting down the next day. The alarm rings for 30 seconds then stops and does not have any later reminders. Hope tharthelps.

Q: Does it make lots if light? Does anyone know if it can be used when printing in the darkroom? Thank you!

Hi I've just tested it for light in my kitchen with the light off. The timer sheds no light at all. So I would say it would be safe to use in a dark room, hope this helps. It is a good little timer accurate too. and quite loud. Pat

Q: How do you turn it on? There is no power button?

The button on the left is stop and start. When not active, the display shows 00.00, there isn't a power off with no display showing. Power consumption in the resting mode is negligible.

Alarm sounds at full time only. I suggest you set it for the shorter time then reset for the rest. It only takes a few seconds to reset
