Building Codes Illustrated: A Guide to Understanding the 2012 International Building Code Review: Great reference book - Even if you think that you know the building code inside-and-out, this book may still be useful with its illustrations of IBC code language, for better understanding. Also, it is useful to show others---colleagues/clients/plan checkers---to assist them with understanding the building code. Of course, for a beginner in architecture, or someone who needs more experience, this book is a great primer for understanding how the building code as a whole works to provide for the public health, safety and welfare in built environments. Review: Extremely Helpful Reference for the ARE - I purchased this in preparing for the ARE, and have found it to be an extremely helpful reference. Codes have been one of the more problematic areas for me and the diagrammatic nature of how the information is presented has greatly helped me better understand. It's well worth the money!

IBC is as easy as ABC
Absolutely great resource providing clear illustrated interpretations of the code. The text and diagrams help to really boil down the key points of the code.

Great interpretive code resource!
I use this book [in addition to the CALDAG] as interpretive code resources. It really helps to align my thinking to what is acceptable/ permit-possible to the AHJ.

A picture is worth a thousand words
After studying building code by just reading code, this book is a breath of fresh air. There are pictures to illustrate. This helps with strange "terms of the trade" that I've never seen before. Also, there is some discussion of where the rules (code) come from. Without this background, the code seems like a strange rule-book where you just memorize obscure rules. When you see where the rules come from it really helps.

For The Visually Oriented
As an architect, I have dealt with many variations, revisions, and updates to building codes, from Montana to Florida and points inbetween for 35 years. I still find sections where the syntax baffles me. This is an excellent addition to the archtects or students library. It is not a replacement for the local code as there are always amendments but this is a must have based on the 2015 ICC. Now if Mr.Ching could decipher the Chicago Building Code....

Not a bad book. Might be a little pricey though.
This is a good introduction to building codes. For the price, I expected a little more. Overall, I would recommend the book to those who aren't strapped for cash because it is indeed slightly overpriced for the amount of information included. Also, it isn't exactly an easy read. Which although I found it laborious to digest, I was able to understand the book. Some people may be turned off by this.
