Content Strategy for the Web, 2nd Edition

Very useful and concrete
I used so much this book as reference that even with my digital copy i wanted to have a printed one so I could put post it and go back easily to certain topics. It was a great bought (both times) and then I even both the next one with tutoriales. I recommend it. One of its best characteristics is that is very concrete and "hands on". Other books on this subjects have been too theoretical to me.

One of the best books on Content Marketing period.
I'm particular when looking for books about marketing. I've been in the advertising & marketing industry for over 15 years so it's important they provide value and teach me things I don't know. I look for books that are well-written, provide a good perspective on the subject, give information you can actually use and answer the "WHY". This book hits the mark on all accounts. I've read hundreds of blog posts, books, whitepapers, etc. on the subject of Content Marketing and would recommend this book over most of the information out there. It's easy to read, witty, and really tells you how it all works. If you're interested in Content Marketing or are learning to use it for your business (or provide it as a service), this book is an absolute must!

Content strategy from beginning to end
Excellent content strategy overview. This book has a bit of everything from start to finish in working on developing and rolling out a content strategy project. I especially loved the questions it asks you to consider for your situation when working on each part of the strategy. Great, conversational tone and easy-to-understand writing doesn't further complicate what can be a complex subject. My only minor quibble is that it is heavily web-focused (obviously, it's in the title). But anyone with critical thinking ability can expand this to a global content strategy beyond the web. The questions still apply, the concepts still apply, the payoff still applies. Invaluable in my business case when I was trying to describe what a content strategy IS to people who have never heard the term.

great book to understand the process and deliverables
If you're interested in it have been tasked with content management as part of your job this book is invaluable. Easily digested lists and examples give you a great beginning road map of how content can be managed to make everyone's jobs easier. The tone of the book is both humorous and educational which made what could be a very dry topic a very easy read. If you're a user experience professional like I am some of this will be overlapping since the roles overlap in responsibility to a small degree but that was really minimal. I have highlighted many passages and will be coming back to this book as I dig more into projects where content management is needed

Excellent update
I've had a copy of the 1st edition since it came out and was curious about what would be new in the 2nd edition. This is filled with excellent additional material, including expanded information about messaging, content structure, governance planning, user lifecycle and more. The voice of the writers is very down-to-earth and accessible, and entertaining, too.I manage a new team of content strategists and made this required reading for them. They've found it extremely helpful as they've come to understand more and more how content strategy works in general--and the challenges we face implementing content strategy in a non-profit organization.

4 stars for large corporations, 3 stars for small business.
Good book full of great insight but better suited to a large corporation than a small business.A majority of the book deals with managing and organizing the flow of content between various "stake holders," perfect if you work at huge company with a bunch or bureaucratic hoops to jump through. If you are a small business with only one or two points of contact and largely self manage your own website, Content Rules: How to Create Killer Blogs, Podcasts, Videos, Ebooks, Webinars (and More) That Engage Customers and Ignite Your Business (New Rules Social Media Series) is a much better choice.

I wish I Read This a Year Ago!
I am playing catch up in the Content Management space, while doing a redesign of a website with +17,000 files and no content strategy. While this book leads me to think "I wish we had..." and "If only we did X...", it will help lead us to a (slow developing) content strategy for all our content. It's not often a work-related book falls in the "I Can't Put This Down" category, but this is surely one of those!Recommended to all.

If you want to learn content strategy, this is the place to start.
Online content strategy as a vocation is still in its infancy. There aren't many university courses on the subject. So where do you begin learning the art, craft and science of CS? I recommend starting with this comprehensive introduction from CS guru Kristina Halverson. It's a fun read (without being trivial) and I'm a big fan of Halverson's 'content strategy quad', which creates a really useful perspective for all types and sizes of content projects.

Un gran libro
Altamente recomendable para cualquier persona que trabaje en el mundo online gestionando contenidos. Un gran manual que, más que enseñarte cosas, te ayuda a pensar en cómo mejorar tu propia web.
