Great little book, with a lot of good information!
This book has beautiful color photos that are clear and with good instructions. It was not damaged or moldy, like some reviews stated, and all of the pages were there in their correct order. There very definitely are instructions for doing the Basketweave, although one reviewer complained it wasn’t there. I bought 2 of these books and found no problems in either of them.It gives you instructions for a lot of stitches that I have never used, and it will be fun using them. The Chevron pattern clearly states that you need to use multiples of 10 + 1 stitches for this. That is what 1 Chevron stitch needs.I like that it gives you so much useful information, including showing many sizes of needles and explaining what the different types and uses there are for different sizes of yarns and the crochet hooks needed for them.I could easily learn to crochet with this book alone, and I’m sure that my daughter and granddaughter will love their book!

I love this great little book
This tutorial is really easy to read and follow. I just started trying to crochet again after not doing anything for years, so I felt like a refresher would be helpful. This book is it! The pictures are clean and crisp, the writing in concise and easy to understand. It has a variety of stitches, along with edging and joining techniques. I like the spiral binding, that allows the book to lie flat or be folded to one page for space saving. The pages are a thicker, glossier type paper that I think will hold up well to lots of use. I think this is a great book for beginners and a nice book for those wishing to refresh their skills, as well as learning a few new stitches. I am very glad I made the purchase.

An excellent, well organized & photographed book
If you want to learn how to crochet or are still a novice, this book would be a good place to begin or expand your learning journey. This book is spiral bound, a definite plus as it will always lay flat. It is well organized with a Table of Contents up front instead of an alphabetical index in the back. There are excellent color photos of each sample swatch followed with step by step color photos of each stitch. There are red arrows pointing out precisely where your hook must be inserted for each step of the stitch. The written instructions are clearly worded and placed directly below the picture of each step.It covers simple but helpful supplies. Hook sizes are shown. There is an overview of yarn types and weights. Th “Tips” are easily identified by outlined dashes. And finally, a number of finishing techniques are demonstrated. My only disappointment with this book is that some of the yarn used for the sample swatches looks like it is poor quality. The strands are loosely twisted, are more subject to splitting - your hook doesn’t catch all the strands for a neat stitch. These splits are often difficult to pull out when they are finally noticed a row or two later. Careful pulling (aka: frogging) is the way to correct the split stitch.I’ve been a “Happy Hooker” for more than 50 years. I’ve made hundreds of slippers, dozens of scarfs, some sweaters, a few leg and knee warmers, rugs and more blankets for charity, friends, children, cats and dogs than I can recall. Welcome to the club! I hope your journey is also a happy one.

Good starting point
Its a simple and good thin book with large pictures to show you how to begin. I practiced the basic stitch and then when my brain memorized it I went on to the second and thord one. I do not understand why the stitches are named the way they are but it seems to me co fusing, because you would think that for a double stitch, you jump two loops or stiches but this isn't so. I guess its an American thing. Im jist a beginner and do not know mich bit this is a good starter book. Buy some yarn at the dollar tree and a few basic crochet hooks from a craft store. I have three. A 4mm and a slightly thocker one and then a 6mm I think. I prefer the 4 size. It depends on the thickness of the yarn you use. Anyway, this is a good starter book. I am still not a pro but I can stictch a scarf if I wanted to.

This is a good book for beginners.
I returned it because it seemed too basic. It has helpful information about yarn and hook sizes and the instructions look easy to follow. It's also very short but the color photos are nice and it is priced well.
