I travel quite a bit, and have a few cables with me for charging items and for hooking up to hotel networks.While some hotel rooms have ethernet connections for the same price as wifi, wifi connections may be slower and some are limited to only a few devices per room account. Because I have multiple devices with connectivity, an ethernet cable helps you to use a portable router to use the same connection.The TBMax Retractable Network cable is great because it retracts neatly into the spool. It's also long enough to go across a desk or dresser so you can hook up your travel router when power sources aren't so close to the ethernet ports. I wish all my cables were in neat spools like this!The included case is very nice, but I don't use it because I keep all my cables together in another case.

This cable is a very conveniently sized, and comes with an excellent protective case. I had some cable before this where the plastic tabs that held the cable ends in their sockets broke off in my backpack. This won't happen with these because of the case.It's impressive that a cable this size can be shielded well enough to qualify as Cat-6. I managed 920 MBits/sec over the cable, and I suspect the limitation was the USB-C Ethernet devices, not the cable.The ratchet mechanism for keeping the cable from retracting at the wrong time does feel a little fragile, and I wonder if it might break someday, but it hasn't yet.I think the case is large enough that one of my USB-C Ethernet dongles might fit into it with the cable, which would be even more convenient.

The item is exactly as shown, and the case is nice and fancy. But it's not really usable - since the cord is flat and thin, it needs bracing or some sort of support between the head and the cable - but there is none. That, combined with the fact that the RJ45 connector is a tad thicker than most ports means I don't expect it to last a month. It feels like the cable is going to pop out of the RJ45 head each time I pull it out, and I've yet to find a RJ45 port where this doesn't get "stuck" due to the slight over-thickness.

Well, the concept is very good, and it did work for almost 2 weeks on our Avaya conference phone, but all it took was one employee pulling a little hard to extend it, and one end stripped off. I'm not willing to repair it, so we will go back to using a cable with a twist-tie until we find something stronger that will hold up under office conditions. The first time I used this, found the retractable cables to be all twisted up inside the holder. Had to spend 10 minutes unwinding and untwisting them, but it retracted fine after that. Also, it would be better if it was longer. We have some long conference tables and plug ins are not always close at hand.

I did not like the retractible part. if both sides are not pulled evenly, the chord gets snagged in device

Ok, but a bit cheap looking. Its a shame everyone goes for cheap rather than looking for quality - function over form.Sometimes the cable does not rewind, so its fiddly to get the wires to go back. I used to use a patch cable which I curled up which perhaps is a better solution as I know this will always work.
